Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
Willow Springs Golf Course in Haslet, Texas is famous for having two sets of greens for each hole, used to maintain the best possible conditions depending on the season -- one for the winter, and one for the summer. This track plays just over 6,100 yards and offers a full 18 holes to the golfing public. The opening hole is the most difficult -- it's the only 400-yard-plus par 4 on the course. Nothing wrong with a bogey on this first hole, since it plays 446 yards. Willow Springs' back nine features two very birdie-able par 3s, as well as a 436-yard par 5 and a 280-yard par 4 that play back-to-back.

Nice round of Golf
Pretty easy course - green average and some fairways in bad shape
No Fairways
Great value your money. Seems course was designed to be very fun but something has happened and there is ZERO fairways. So, if you don't mind hitting off of hard pan all day, have fun. Staff has allowed fairways to be all but gone on most holes.
Fairways
Greens are in good shape- however they are not watering the fairways. They are dry & hitting off hardpan is not fun! Staff very friendly!
What Happen Here
This course has an excellent layout with various types of holes to play. That I enjoyed the most. At one time I wage this was an outstanding course to play. I could imagine when this course was up to par most golfers would love to play here. But not to day! This has so much potential that you can tell from the design, But you have to keep up the course itself. I hate to talk bad about any course. This course looks to have been neglected severely except for the greens were astounding (exceptional) to say the least compared to the fairways which were like playing in a parking lot. There weren't enough turf to attempt a decent shot. Most of the time It was like "Lets see what happens". Enough said, At this time I can't recommend this course maybe after the spring rains or the irrigation system has been repaired, replace, or renewed. I'll give this course a year or so before I return. Again the layout is good. Most holes seem fun, but not in its the current condition.
Worst Golf Course
Even with a hot deal, do not waste your time at this course. The only grass that was even alive was on the greens, the fairways were filled with dead grass. If I could give this place zero stars I would!!
Cool layout for a weekender course
I really enjoyed my round! I had lowered expectations going in, but was pleasantly surprised at just about every hole. The tee boxes were in really good shape, for a summer in Texas and the greens putted pretty true. The layout is a fun little challenge, but not so hard that the summer conditions make it almost unplayable (like many local daily fee courses). The staff and maintenance crew have found a way to squeeze out everything available from this course and I will definitely be back... SOON!
Could be great
We live less than a mile from WSGC so it’s disappointing to see the course in the condition it is. The greens are under par, the tee boxes are decent but some were soft and thick so teeing up the ball was a challenge. I’m a bit stickler for aesthetics, so I noticed they apparently don’t own a string line trimmer....
The layout of the course is great. It’s not long at all. Leave your driver in the bag if you’d like. It requires some shots be pulled off due to short holes where you can’t see the green from the tee... sort of old school golf at this fin... no, mediocre.
I don’t think there is irrigation in the fairways, so I’ll give them that one. It’s hot.... like 100+ in the afternoon. A few of the greens were under par, most par bogey. That made putting only a small hopefully portion of the round. Biggest issue with fairways is the lack of a cart policy for staying on the path or away from certain areas of the course. Carts are everywhere all Willy nilly and no one seemed to care.
I think as long as I can catch some good GolfNow deals for tee times, I’ll probably take my business elsewhere and hope they figure something out at WCGC. Could be great, but no longer a destination golf course, even for the locals.
Wonderful staff!
My wife and I love coming to this course! It's probably one of the most affordable. Both for green fees and concessions. The range marshals don't act like jerks like they do at Iron Horse! They have wonderful specials constantly. Tuesday's during the summer are the best! 1/2 price green fees and $2 hotdogs and beers. You can't beat it!
Hidden Gem
This course is a great value, it's somewhat challenging, the course condition is better than some in the area, and the off course amenities are good.
Very poorly kept up
Course was terrible. Greens were terrible. The only nice place was the putting green and the driving range. I won't play again there
