Legendary Oaks Golf Course

About
Legendary Oaks Golf Club is part of the Lawrence Marshall Family Recreation Center in Hempstead, about an hour northwest of Houston. Stretching to a lengthy 7,061 yards for the back tees, the course boasts several holes that long hitters will enjoy. The layout's par 3s are known to be particularly challenging. The golf course will put your distance to the test but you'll find that accuracy is also needed when negotiating the tighter spots on the course. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are also many strategically placed bunkers and mature trees to watch out for. Legendary Oaks Golf Club's final hole is a par 4 that demands a tee shot over water while a large willow tree guards the left side and a bunker protects the right. The challenges continue on the uphill second shot.

Course is starting to be maintained better - greens are a lot better than last year - sand bunkers still need drainage
Sandy Greens
The grass is getting greener, where there is grass...
Fun course
I play here a lot. With Spring time here, I’m hoping the greens can improve. It’s a bit frustrating trying to putt with the ball jumping around. Other than the greens, I really enjoy Legendary Oaks.
Greens need work - they needed mowing - sand bunkers had packed sand - crews were working while we played- lots of branches laying around after previous storms
Reconstruction
I have played here several times in the past but this was my first time in a while. The front 9 was closed for maintenance. That called the back 9 to be over crowded. All the greens were bare. The fairways were in descent shape. I will go back once I know the course is back up to playing condition.
Bad overall condition
Fairways have very little grass. Hopefully it will improve. Greens also lacked grass. Again hopefully this will improve. Great carts with club cleaning onboard. I’m hoping they can get the grass to recover. I love the layout.
Greens and fairways
Greens were really bad and fairways plus they just threw a bunch of sand all over them to get them to grow back I guess. For that reason I give them a three star. Like if you know your greens are bad and you just covered them in sand then make it known to the people so people have the option to play on bad greens and lower the cost because of that. Charging people full price when you know your course is destroyed is messed up.
The greens have gotten a lot better with a new superintendent
The sand bunkers are still unplayable due to nonexistent drainage but the course has started work on them - there are far too many spots in the fairways without grass. - overall the improvement is very encouraging from a year ago - the greens are much improved
Waited just for me and I feel like a VIP
Arrived at the course on a windy and freezing cold weather. There was no car in the parking lot and no one playing golf on that day. Then I thought the course probably be closed. I grabbed the door handle of their club house just to confirm that the club house be closed. To my surprise the club house was opened and there was one lady at the club house asking me if I am Bryant and I nodded and let her know that I thought the course was closed and I was going to head back home. She then told me that I was the only person who made a reservation on that day and she couldn’t close the golf course because of my reservation. She further mentioned she would close the club house right after she checked me in and she actually did. Wow! At that moment, I felt like a VIP for them even if I am not. They would wait for me entire morning just to check me in. On that day, it was freezing cold and windy but I played the entire 18 holes all alone. It was very unique experience and I kept thinking about the course even when I was at home getting ready for my bed. I kept thinking this is why golf is the gentleman’s sport - I can always play alone and am surrounded by good people of golf community respecting rule of games and golf players who would spend their pre- or post-retirement leisure time with great pleasure and satisfaction.
