Sad Course
I play this course almost weekly and used to love it about 6 months ago. It was in great condition at that time, but it seems the course has prioritized the fancy new club house rather than making the course playable. The tee boxes need work, most are uneven and make it so tough to find a good place to tee off. The fairways were good! (Only good part about the course). And please don’t get me started on the greens… the greens used to my favorite part of the course. They were mostly solid and rolled pure, but it seems like the maintenance staff has completely let them go. The greens are awful, more sand/dirt than grass at this point. I hate that the course has seemed to forget about what product they actually sell and instead try to wow you with a pointless clubhouse. I hope they turn things around because I really do enjoy the layout and complexity of the course.
Course is in bad shape
The greens: Really bad. They have so much sand on them! That you can’t get a true roll. Very slow and just Un-puttable. It should be posted online somewhere so players can know what they’re getting before they pay!. Not fair.
The practice putting green: It was closed.
The tee boxes: They were so bad! Ball above my feet on some, ball below my feet on others. Uneven lies on the box is brutal. Also the tees were so hairy it felt like I was hitting off the fringe.
Overall it’s not worth the money.
It needs so much work by the crew to be playable. I will try it again at the end of summer and see if it’s any better.
Work on Course Paying Off
Good course that is in good shape. Pace of play is good. Bunkers need a little work but considering the rain Houston has been getting they aren't bad. Restaurant has good food and beer selection. They've invested money in this course and it shows! Good course and highly recommended.
What good are all the renovations?
What good are all the renovations if you still haven't figured out how to drain the course? Was this not one of the reasons for all the construction. I understand cart path only but to have to fish your ball out of standing water on every hole and hope you can find a place to move it too... There were 3 temporary greens in the first 4 holes because they had lost the greens. We only played 4 holes. If you're going to spend that much money on a course why not hire someone who knows how to grow grass on the greens? I have played this course for many years and sure hope to see it in better shape again some day.
Under Repair
So many reviews say greens are horrible. That is a given. They are redoing them. If playing on 6 temporary greens is bothersome. Do not go. The course was a nice value for the money. Do not pay on golf now. The course will discount the round as they did for me for the temporary greens. The future is very bright here and heading in the right direction. I will go back. The staff was awesome. Everyone was helpful.
Recommend you take a hard pass on this course until…
Greens are in terrible shape. At least 4 greens are displaced. Fairways are poor to fair. Recommend you play elsewhere until they spend money on the course versus the new club house.
New clubhouse. Poor course
The shining light about this course is checking out the new clubhouse. There were 4 or 5 temporary greens on the course which they don’t tell you prior to playing. Putting green is not usable either. Really wish they would get a greens person to fix the problems there.
Greens are a work in progress
The greens are in rough condition but they are feverishly work to rectify. There are three temp greens, but they are very upfront about it and gave a discount on regular price.
New club house is beautiful and would have been rated higher when fully completed. Staff is very accommodating and friendly.
When they get the greens recovered and the rest of construction done, it will be one of the finest courses for the money in Houston area.
Slowly improving
Greens need a ton of work but staff is trying. Starter not as friendly as the Marshall but no real complaints. Awesome layout just needs some TLC on the greens.
Unhappy Greens
Have played here before and same issue. Good course layout, poor conditions on the greens. Should have a few temporary greens at a minimum. Only palatable because because of special deal. I hope they can improve things on the greens.
Very bad greens
The fairways were in good condition but there was little to know grass on the greens.
Use for a practice course
I’ve been going to Jersey meadow for years. This is my first review and let me be loud and clear. The greens are absolutely hit garbage. You will feel like you’re putting from a sand trap some holes, concrete on other holes and regular grass here and there. I’m beyond disappointed that in all of these years they still can’t get their greens right. I’m no pro by any means but I know a nice course or even a decent course. It doesn’t take years to get some greens right. I’ll go back to check out the new clubhouse. But after I see that I’m done unless I need a practice round to work on everything but putting
TRASH GREENS decently priced
For the price it’s really not bad but the greens are absolutely trash… even after having temp greens just last year the new greens are half dead. Fairways are decent though.
