About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

My first and last time there.
Greens were good and that’s the only positive thing I could say. Many spots on the fairway had thin grass. I think too many holes are to close to each other and hard to tell which fairway was mine or which flag was mine. Almost got hit three times while teeing up from guys golf balls getting away. It’s a tight course so if other golfers not accurate, you could get hit. Markers were missing. Flags missing from poles. It’s a course you need to play a couple of times to know the layout. I love good greens and good fairways but this course lacked grass in the fairways!! I won’t be back.

As a player with 5 years experience yhis cpurse was moderately challenging. The fairways and greens were well maintaief. However navigating the course was difficult. Markers were missing or not clearly placed. I was fortunate to pmay the back 9 with a nice high school kid who taught me tbe layout. Overall it was a fun course that I will play again.
Sad
Fun course but last day to play course is at the end of this Month-Course closing
DON’T CLOSE-KEEP GOLF ALIVE!!
The COH needs to reconsider closing this course. There have already been too many greater Houston area courses closed recently. This is a nice golf course, with a challenging layout. We don’t need another garden, we need more GOLF.
NICE GOLF DAY, HATE IT’S CLOSING!!!
Course was in good shape. We enjoyed the day at Glenbrook. Sad it’s closing.
One last time at Glenbrook
I am so glad I was able to play going back for one last time before it closes. Thanks to the staff and many people that Made it possible to play here
Great Course
Was in town for a few days, saw this course for $20 on GolfNow. Very friendly staff from the person in the pro shop to the girl working in the grill. Great course layout, some interesting holes, some have sharp doglegs that you cant cut due to trees so club selection was important off of those tee boxes. #9, #10, #11, and #12 are great holes. Can't wait get back to play the course again. Unfortunately the city is wanting to close the course and build a botanical garden in its place. Would be a shame to see it close. Highly recommend the course!
Old course
I played Glenbrook on a day that was chilly but good. The greens were green (rye grass?) and putted well. They were better than any others I have played since the freezes lately. I grew up learning to play at this course. I love the layout with the drives over the widened bayou.
My wife played for the first time in 2 1/2 years
Great day for golf. My wife finally relented and went out to play for the first time since we moved back to Texas from the Middle East. She loved the layout and at one point had 4 pars in a row. Now she is ready to play all the time if we play at Glenbrook. Awesome day, nice people and fun course. Thanks
Highly recommend this course
This is my first time playing this course in a few months, and I highly recommend it. I have always loved the layout, and the course is in good shape, especially considering it's Winter, and also the battering most courses suffered during Harvey.
This course will give you all the challenge you want. There are a half dozen forced carries over Sims Bayou, and one of them, the 9th hole, a long par 5, is one of the toughest I've played.
It's a lot of fun to play, the staff is friendly, and it's a great value.
Hard to find a better bargain
Glenbrook is definitely looking better than it has in previous years. The greens are in terrific shape (way better than Battleground which I played a week ago) and tees/fairways in good condition as well. Bunkers are so so but again, way better than Battleground. Overall playing Glenbrook is an enjoyable experience!
Glenbrook
this is a great course, it has some of the most unique holes I've ever seen on a course. it's a shame that it might be gone next year. everyone should get out and play this piece of history at least once before then.
Nice muni
Great old cours! Reminded me of courses I grew up playing. Greens were nice, average speed. A lot of water.
