“Wow” Photo submitted by Frank1089032 on 06/18/2019
Amazing views, not worth the price
While the views were fantastic and the course was every bit as challenging as advertised, I would not recommend anyone go to play this course unless you would like to burn $250+ on crappy course conditions. We counted 1 green out of 18 that was clear of dirt, sand, or dead spots. Not sure what the greens crew does because it looked worse than my local municipal course that costs $35 dollars.
Once again, amazing views, but not worth the price
Incredible oceanside course
Where do I begin? The front nine is pretty cool with a lot of elevation change and 2 quirky but fun holes (3 and 5). Hole names are all seem to be local Puerto Rico references until # 6 which is called "Yogi Berra." The hole is either a long-ish par 5 or a short par 4 because as Yogi once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." The left fairway is the par 5 and the right is the par 4! Pick one and go...
The back nine has ocean views from 7 of the 9 holes and the wind just howls off the ocean at a steady 30 mph. It's pretty spectacular and extremely challenging. Between the wind and the fact that any ball that goes into the "primary" rough - the vegetation that forms the clubs logo - is immediately lost makes for a brutal test. But a beautiful one for sure.
The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. My wife doesn't play golf but was able to purchase a day pass for $40 and spent the day at one of the lovely pools near the casitas with access to showers, the outdoor bar and food. We didn't have dinner but hear it's probably the best dining experience in Isabela and the surrounding area.
If you plan to be in that part of the island it's a must play - but bring a map! Getting from the 1st green to the 2nd tee took some guesswork as did getting from the 12th green to the 13th tee and 15th green to 16th tee (apparently the actual 17th hole had been closed at one point so they stuck a "temporary" par 3 between 15 green and 16 tee. Before seeing the 16th tee I came upon the 17th tee but didn't know it was a temporary hole...so a little confusing).
Amazing experience...bring extra balls!
Overpriced scenic golf course
Thank you golf now for the Hot Deal, Royal Isabella was tough as advertise and the 20 mph winds made it that much tougher. Staff was friendly, course was very tough and overpriced. Regular green fees are $400 and course is not pristine enough to ask for that type of money, one third of the greens were not up par, Bottom line just too much money. Better deals for lesser price on the island. W
Expected more for the price
Nice course. Right on the ocean. Greens were ok, not great.Tons of ant mounds everywhere! Sand traps were horrible. No different then baymone municipal course, which is $40 to play. Carts were not comfortable like the grande reserve or Bahia. No GPS or speakers in the carts. Again, nice course (because of location) but definitely not worth $250-$390 for a round. I will say the staff was exceptionally helpful and super friendly!! All and all a good experience, just way overpriced for conditions.
Course features
The front 9 is not next to the ocean, so it no views. However the whole course has a very nice layout. The back 9 is on the ocean, there the panoramic views are spectacular. The only real upset I have is that the course is not well cured. Patches of grass missing on every tee offs, fairways and greens.
A wonderful experience
This is the 1st true ocean side course I have played. The experience was top notch and I will definitely book again if I come back to visit Puerto Rico in the future.
Wow
This place is majestic and will blow you away.!.!
Staff is friendly and accommodating.!
Never seen views like this at a golf course, back 9 is as impressive of a layout as one might ever imagine….
GO!!!!!!!
An experience!
Very windy. Sone blind shots and tight fairways. A great experience with incredible views. However a little unfair for most golfers, including me.
Tough course
The view is spectacular. The layout of this ourse is challenging. Lost a lot of balls. The green is in a poor condition. The sign for the next hole is lacking. It was a slow day for stuffs there. After our play, the golf shop was closed. We had no idea where to return carts and rented clubs. If it was not a hot deal from Golfnow, we would not play at their regular price.
Love the course
This is a really nice course and with a few improvements it can be great. Views are spectacular, Course is challenging for a 10 handicap, and the employees are great. Need signage improved as it’s confusing
Great course but….
The views on the back 9 are amazing! Hole 9 is a beautiful island hole that is fun. Two canyon drives are challenging and overall the corse is really nice. The but comes from lack of signage from hole to hole. Finding 11 was nearly impossible, from 13-14-15 was a mystery I’ll play the course again when the price comes down. At this price the carts should have gps and the range needs to be marked better
Overpriced
390.00 green fees! There is no justification for such price. Layout has ocean views from cliffs that are breathtaking ( like the green fees) but the course has lost its luster from years ago. I would play it again if the price dropped to 60-80 dollars.
Beautiful course but…
Course location was absolutely beautiful, but course wasn’t in the best condition. For the price I was caught off guard there wasn’t range balls provided on the practice range, but i was more shocked that the practice balls I purchased separately were worn down water logged balls.
Amazing Views
The course has amazing views of the ocean. Nice layout. Friendly staff.
not that great
not worth the fees. practice facilities below average front nine just average. back nine is where its at with views
Beautiful course but…..
10 handicapper here, course was beautiful, staff was great. This was the first time I had rented clubs and I probably won’t do it again. The irons were good, Mizuno but the grips were horrible and old. The carts dont have GPS and the course isn’t marked for yardage. Pace of play would be a lot better if the carts had GPS. This course would be a 5 star venue. Course to hard to play without correct yardages.
If it had better yardages I would recommend to a friend. If you have a laser or GPS with you then I would recommend this course
We did eat lunch and burgers were good.
The holes are laid out kind of all over the place, hard to find the next hole.
Island hole was cool.
Shared green was cool, they have a few extra holes on this course that I never understood.
Driving range good
Putting area okay-good
March 2022 no masks
.
10 handicapper….
Dude, you should have a range finder in your bag..
