Schaumburg Golf Club - Tournament/Players Course

About
Schaumburg Golf Club is a 27-hole layout that has hosted the U.S. Open Qualifying and Illinois Open Qualifying tournaments as well as numerous other events since it first opened in 1928. The course is divided into three nines: the Tournament, Players, and Baer. Each course has a different character but one characteristic they all have is the undulating terrain. All three golf courses also boast well manicured tees, greens, and fairways. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Tournament/Players course features the most water of the three combinations. The par-4 fifth hole on the Tournament nine has a particularly tricky forced carry over a large pond. In addition to the golf courses, Schaumburg has a practice facility that includes a driving range and two putting greens.

Always great
Schaumburg seems to always tick all the boxes. One of the best overall courses in Chicagoland.
slow play
Beautiful day to play, unfortunately we were behind pace 8-10 minutes by hole 4 and then ended up 25-28 minutes behind the whole back nine. Needless to say not 1 RANGER to come assist or lend a hand with relief, but there was plenty of wasteful spending of cart staff sitting near parking to stop E-bike riders from penetrating the course. Head staff guy at end of round during my Rant to him said he apologized and they needed to do better but unfortunately they FAILED. 77,000 golfers passed through the course last year which is well over $3-4 million just on golf, so if you raise your prices then we the Golfers expect better results.......DO BETTER.
Great Muni!
Schaumburg is one of my fav municipal/park district courses in the area. Having 3 9s is a great bonus to keep it fresh. Course was in great shape with only minor areas under repair. Greens rolled perfectly. Range with top tracer is also a nice perk.
Nice course
The starter was especially great on the Baer course. The course is always fun and challenging. The holes were a little raggedly around the edges though. Don't need to make putting any harder.🙂
One of the better public courses in Chicagoland
I save 5 stars for private or superbly manicured with memorable golf holes but this is definitely one of the better ones. Still early in the year but top notch facilities. I’d give it 4.5
Good start to the season
Considering the time of the year, the course was in very good condition. We played the Players / Baer combo and there was very short waits on Par 3s throughout the day. The toptracer range was also really nice to warm up, but beware that wayward shots enter playable areas on both sides.
It would be helpful if during check in or the starter lets the group know if the halfway house is open or not. We had to go inside of the restaurant and redirected to the bar for food and limited snacks. We ended up backing up the 10th teeth for a few minutes as we waited for our drinks.
Overall a very good experience considering the season.
One of the better public course options in Chicago burbs
This course has 27 holes and a fantastic layout. Tight, target golf rewards good shirts but is not overly punishing to the occasional wayward shot. Clubhouse food and drink options are fantastic. Practice area is a bit small. Bunkers, fairways annd tees are well maintained and greens were fast and firm. A fun round.
Very nice park district course for Chicagoland area
This course has 27 well maintained holes, firm greens and a tough but fair layout. Does not play long and rewards consistent ball striking. Even if you find yourself wayward off the tee, it isn’t going to penalize you with walls of trees and OB. A really fun round of golf and a fantastic clubhouse restaurant for after the round.
Great course
Love coming back to play this course. Greens are some of the fastest I have played. White sand in traps was nice to see.
