Metamora Fields Golf Club

About
Metamora Fields Golf Club has a heathland layout that is woven through a series of lakes and creeks. The classic design presents many risk/reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The course closely follows the natural contours of the land and cut with ribbons of native grasses. The bunkering is also strategically placed to complement the undulations of the terrain. The traditional layout offers straightforward shot values and receptive greens that give it a unique playability for all skill levels. Metamora Fields' ninth hole is particularly memorable for both its scenery and its level of challenge. Bunkers guard both sides of this par 4 and there is water along the right side from the tee to the green, which is protected by a bunker to the front right and water to the back left.

Could not believe it
We were passing through on the way to Quad Cities and we were amazed. This is an absolute gem. I play a lot of golf around the Midwest private and public and this course is one of the best I have played. Large bent grass fairways and greens make for a fair challenge. Bunkered very strategically makes for proper placement off of the tee and approaching. Greens roll very true. Loved everything about this course. Stay in between the tall grass and you will have an awesome day. I recommend the course to anybody regardless of handicap. I would play again even if it cost $100 rather than $40-$60.
Very Nice Course
Had talked to the Golf Pro when he was up in Chicago for a Golf Show in February. Decided to stop on our way to annual golf trip and glad we did.
This is a very nice links style course. Greens and Fairways were in wonderful condition.. rough was not too severe but made you adjust your shots. The real defense here is the wind, which can play havoc with your ball. Will try and get back and play this one again.
VERY HAPPY
I come down to Peoria from Chicago once a year for a week long work conference. Never heard of this track until my buddy met the head pro at the Chicago Golf Show. Well, this course is just excellent. Tees, fairways, and greens are a legit 9+ out of a 1-10 scale. Under 40 bucks with cart in the spring, can't beat that deal. Enjoyed myself with the quick pace of play and I played well if that's any consolation. Pro shop employees were very friendly and the practice facilities were solid. Glad I played this track and I'll be back. .
Loved this course
I played this course because it had the best ratings here in the Peoria area. The course lives up to the ratings.
The course was in great shape and the staff was really friendly. They seemed legitimately happy to have me playing here and made it seem like they really wanted me to enjoy my round.
The links style gives you some wide and open fairways but with a decent amount of hazards to keep you honest.
It was a real pleasure playing here, except for the cold weather I got stuck with. I am looking forward to coming back here when the weather is nicer.
If You Enjoy Links-style...
This was the second leg of a Navy reunion golf weekend. I played Metamora Fields a couple years ago during a previous visit, and fell in love with the course then. This was the round I was most looking forward to this weekend, and was hopeful that my shipmates would enjoy themselves as much as I did. Metamora Fields is a true links-style golf course with its bunkering, rolling fairways, large undulating greens, and exposure to the elements. On this particular day, Central Illinois was enjoying Chamber of Commerce weather conditions, and winds were rather calm, too. We could not have asked for anything better. The boys in my group enjoyed a great deal of success on their scorecards. In fact, one of my buddies broke 90 for the first time in his life, which was a real highlight. Judging by the discussion afterwards, Metamora Fields received a resounding and unanimous thumbs-up from all the boys. I still cannot believe that a facility with such first class amenities can charge such a reasonable rate. Definitely my favorite Illinois course.
upscale operation in a small town
challenging course at a decent price with outstanding service and conditions. well kept and nice people with a very nice club house, bar and food
Metamora Fields- Awesome Experience
This is a true championship course that leaves you satisfied. There is a variety of hole length and design, different shots to hit throughout the day, and a very fair test. You see what lies ahead and there are no surprises.
The tee boxes are perfectly flat and the greens are true. The course is kept up very well, playing firm and fast but not burned out at all.
Being a links course, there is some wind, and not many trees. There are many bunkers and a couple of lakes. There are 5 par 3's and 4 par 5's, which makes it interesting. Most greens are open to a running shot, but this is a challenging course.
In my opinion, this is the best course in Central Illinois. I would recommend that anyone in the area come check it out.
Top Notch Links Style Course
This is a must play for anyone who enjoys links-style golf. A very well manicured course with very few, if any, discernible flaws through the green. Very few, if any, blind shots too. What you see is what you get. So, bombs away for big hitters, but don't go too far offline. The greens are fast and undulating, but spacious. A great score can be had if you are "on" in all aspects, but even if you're not, you should be able to avoid big numbers by not being stupid. I understand the course is young, and "needs to mature", but it's a jewel right now. I can't believe how little they charge for this gem.
Needs Time
This a nice course that still needs time to mature. Several of the fairways are somewhat bare. I also think there is a serious design flaw between the 12 and 17th fairways.
