Course looks uncared for
We have played Brampton many times at least once per year and normally it is value for money. Not the best but a long way from the worst. Unfortunately this time we found the course in poor condition. The tees were bare in place's. The fairways lack definition and I found some poor lies. The greens had obviously been top dressed recently but they were very poor. Variable pace, bumpy and not receptive in the slightest. The bunkers lacked sand, good proportion of which was on the practice green. The new Paddle facility looks great, maybe that’s were the resources have been focussed?
Winter wonderland
Blowing a gale during a wet winter - the stage set. 25 golf balls on the driving range the usual variety. Off the back nine first in this two loops of nine, straight into the teeth. The tees, course and greens had held up very well over another wet winter, there were of course some muddy patches especially green to tee. Very little lying water and the ground was firm, the turf excellent for the time of year. As with most winter golf your putts need to straighter and firm, the surfaces pretty good just the odd green where footprints influenced the line of the ball unduly. Overall the course was in excellent condition, the wind doing more to influence the scores of the group. Off the course we used the driving range, used the toilets and had a coffee and sausage roll which was substantial and the energy from which comfortably saw off 18 holes and then some. We come to Church Brampton in the winter months as it is a true wonderland. Probably the driest course around except for its more illustrious immediate neighbour.
Painful
I’ve played here many times now and every single time, the pace of play is brutal!
The layout it quite good and despite it being autumn, it’s in fairly okay condition however the pace of play is killing the course and I remember why I don’t play here anymore.
A lovely course
This is only about 10 miles from home, so it's an obvious choice. I arrived at 6.10 for a 6.24 tee-slot. The guy in front let me go first as it wasn't quite fully light.
Excellent etiquette. I never saw him again getting around in 2hr 40min.
There is a nice mix of holes, some of which I find challenging as a relatively highish handicapper—it's all part of the game!
There was a heavy dew that could catch you out on the first few holes.
If you get the chance, go and play it.
Course with potential
We enjoyed our round as the holes were well designed with a good variety. For the money this course is great value but this can be explained by the condition of the course. Tees were not great but not awful, greens were slow and looked in need of some TLC. but again we're OK Fairways were decent but anything else was not that pleasing on the eye. So all about available money for green keepers and course improvements.
I would play this course again because it is superb value its just disappointing as it could be a great course IMHO
Enjoyable
Played here few times this year can be very slow at times but my last game was brilliant course conditions were excellent top-notch conditions of the greens.
Bunkers where easy to play out off With good quality sand in Not like some you get wet concrete in !
Overall, very enjoyable day And reasonable prices in the 19th
Very slow
Incredibly slow pace ! Lost the will to live in the end and went home after 9
Excellent
Other than the chap on reception ( must have won the lottery and forgot to put his numbers on) had a lovely time and good value for money booking with golf now deal price 👍
A very nice well presented parkland course
We played on a Wednesday at 3.00pm as a two ball. We manged to get around in 3hrs 45mins so a very good pace of play. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Nice to see a little give in the fairways to take a divot and not break your wrists. A few scruffy areas around a some of the greens that could do with remedial work to bring them up to the standard of the rest of the course.
Had a drink and bite to eat after the round and the bar staff were very friendly and quality of the food was good.
I would recommend that you pay it a visit.
Brampton Heath
All round very nice course and club.
Enjoyed playing the course which is in very good condition and also had some lovely beers and food in the clubhouse.
Would recommend to friends
More of the same- over busy with bad golfers
I went for a cheeky £15 twilight round which value wise is top class.
But brampton is always stupidly busy and there is no quality control.
The 2 ball in front of me lost 12 balls on the 2nd and wouldn't let us through.
As soon as the pro shop closed groups of lads piled on the course getting a free round in.
And it's a shame as the course was probably in the best condition tee to green I've seen for a long time. The greens however alternated between ok and moon craters.
The course and the golfers deserve better
Brampton Heath Golf course.
The course was in good condition. Layout was good. Definitely going back.
Course is in good condition but not as nice as many others in the local area in terms of range of holes. There were a big group of men eating and drink on the terrace afterwards who were loud, rude and using bad language so not the best environment.
Pace of play was good for the first 9, but back nine, everyone caught up and there were two groups waiting for the tee on a couple of holes. Weather was nice so not a big issue. Greens fast in good condition - some areas of the course very wet still and bunkers not the best.
Painfully slow and lack of course etiquette
This was my first time playing this course in a while and my memory of the last time was similar. Which is a real shame!, as I'm currently playing all local courses, with the intention of joining one. To begin, the range is mediocre at best. If you believe the website, they constantly monitor the mats, which is something I find hard to believe, unless they have poor quality standards to measure against. My bay mat looked as though it had mumps and the couple of others I looked at, wasn't much better.
Tuesday course itself, is ok. Not very interesting but in great condition, considering the amount of rain recently and it being winter. Sadly, the pace of playing was painful. I had 4 senior gents in front of me, who spent more time looking for lost balls than progressing towards the green. Not intentionally, I nearly hit them a few times when driving, through trying to keep warm and trying desperately to pick up their speed. I was hoping that as i was out driving them all by 2/3 shots, they would get the hint. I'm guessing they were not members, or perhaps couldn't read, as they wouldn't let me take my shot on the par 3, with a big white sign, asking for players to mark their balls, when on the green. This was something they failed to do, even though they were exploring more tree's 5pish yards from the tee. Sadly I had to follow them all the way round, and at times, I felt like going home. It was cold and I couldn't get into any rhythm. I did get chatting with a few members and it seems the course does get very busy, especially as it is able to stay open through the winter. Although this is a big positive, I feel (based on the members feedback) this is not the club for me.
Managed to finish my round, nearly 5 hours later and Sadly the air guns were turned off, so no chance of clearing the mud from my shoes. Won't be back in a hurry.
Brampton
Decent course in good condition. Long holes and well kept.
Staff were friendly and good prices, will be visiting again.
Wide and forgiving
Nice course, wide fairways, decent pace of play. Good facilities, good golfing day
