Great remodelling and condition
Had always been a great piece of golfing land, ruined by an uninspired layoit. The remodelling in 2021 is very clever - a couple of new holes and some incredibly well placed bunkers have changed the course more than could have been expected. Now has a nice flow and every hole os visually different. Still drains so well and the extra green staff keep the fairways and greens firm and fast nearly all year around. Just played today and its in great condition.
Challenging Greens
2nd time playing Caversham, now I had an idea of how the course plays it was overall a better experience than the first time. The fairways are in a good condition given the time of year and the greens play brilliantly with tricky pin placements. We were very fortunate to tee off with a big gap between us and the group behind so pace of play was no issue this time round (first time round was really bad). Overall the course is really good and would definitely return to play again in the Spring.
Excellent course
Really enjoyed playing the course. Everything was in meticulous condition, very friendly and welcoming staff. A great experience.
Brilliant golf course
Played here a few times now, it’s my go to place in the winter due to the course being predominantly on chalk. Excellent drainage and it’s very playable in all conditions. Course layout is really good with some amazing holes. Lots of bunkers. They’re in the process of building a new club house so it was closed when I visited but I imagine it’ll be amazing once finished. Worth the money although it is on the expensive side for a round of golf.
As close to an inland links that I’ve played!
Turned up on the hottest day of the year although it was hotter today! The course played very fast and with all of the undulations, the greens were tricky but true. The bunkers are all naturally finished much like a true unfinished links bunkers. The course off of their whites (blues) played around 6500 yrds but it’s a good test. You must have chip and runs in your bag and those who can see and use the slopes will benefit hugely.
The clubhouse is just about to undergo a £2m re vamp and the new terrace overlooking the new 18tg green and 1st hole will no doubt be lovely! A new driving range, gym and teaching academy are also going in.
I try to play lots of course from local courses to big name courses and I really enjoyed this course. To top this off the course pro Darren and Jamie in the pro-shop we’re very welcoming. Darren even came out with drinks for us on the 6th green and 13th fairway!
A super day at a super golf course nr Reading! And it will only get better, looking forward to returning!

You won't find better fairways!
Playable all year round, you won't find better fairways during the winter. This is partly down to the excellent green keeping, as well as the chalky subterranean landscape on which the course has been built. In summer it plays tough if you're wayward off the tee, with the fescue coming up giving the course a somewhat linksy feel. However, this has been improved in recent years and the fairways are generous here, this is not a tight course by any means so you'll often find the driver in your hand off the tee. Lots of work & money has gone into the course in the last 3 or 4 years, with a re-design by Canadian golf course architect Tom McBroom, all changes for the better in my opinion; it really is a pleasure to play and the fast, undulating greens provide a real challenge. I'd encourage any avid golfer to give it a try, whatever time of year!
Will be back.
Had a massive refurb, bunkers were perfect. Greens challenging and true. Even after rain and cold conditions. Course was pretty much bone dry. Recommend and will return. I could imagine this course being completely stunning in the summer.
Lovely round of golf!
Great course and will get better as it matures after recent changes
