Decent
On the whole, great value for money, course in decent shape, pace was ok, members and staff friendly. Unreal value for money considering what you pay / condition of other courses locally.
A great little course
Had a pleasant afternoon playing the front 9. Fairways were well cut and the greens were fast. As it was my first time playing, it was a challenge to work out the course at times even with the map on the scorecard. A few more signs with arrows would help. It did not detract from the experience and the other golfers I encountered were friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed my game and I will be back.
Great value for money
Course in good condition despite recent rain, Very good course to learn and progress, quiet during the weekdays and good degree of challenge. Overall great value for money.
Very poor - terrible condition
This was my first experience playing at Datchet Golf Course, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. At the first tee, I noted that only irons were permitted, so I teed up my ball on a standard 1.5-inch blue castle tee. However, the grass was cut in a way that covered the lower quarter of the ball, creating the feel of striking from rough.
The course itself was in poor condition; the fairway was as long as rough on most courses, with substantial mud beneath. After just three holes, I called the clubhouse to explain the situation and requested a refund, as the course seemed unplayable. I was directed to speak with the secretary, who informed me that refunds would not be issued, which I found discouraging.
The groundskeeper, however, was quite reasonable and kindly offered credit for a future round. He mentioned they were working on the grass conditions, which I appreciate; however, I feel the course should not charge green fees if it is undergoing such maintenance and is not in acceptable playing condition.
A staff member in the shop mentioned that many members are accustomed to the course’s condition, which left me wondering if this is a persistent issue. Ultimately, we were unable to complete our game and felt that our time was wasted, especially as I had a partner visiting from out of the country.
While I appreciate the credit offer, I am uncertain about returning given this experience.
Excellent Course
Excellent 9 hole course with 2 different tees to make it 18! hitting it straight is a must! Beware of the tricky 9th and 18th! otherwise you can see most Tee to Greens if you have good eyesight!
Pro was polite and helpful
A Round at Datchet Golf Club
A nice little course that was very flat and easy for walking. It had a nice mix of holes, some of which were played twice from different tees next to the River Thames. The greens had been sanded on the day, so I couldn't fully enjoy them, but they had nice contours. The pro shop allowed me to play an hour early, and I really appreciated their flexibility and accommodation. The clubhouse had a nice atmosphere, and overall, it was good value for money if you're looking for a round of golf in the area.
Decent course but pro shop staff very rude
Good greens and a good layout considering it’s a 9 hole course with 3/4 different tees on the back 9. Well kept course but the guy who worked in the pro shop tried to make us pay again in store when we had had paid the line via GolfNow. Made us feel not welcome from the get go and made it imperatively clear we needed to be done in 4 hours. We finished in 3 hours and took our sweet time. The guy didn’t make us feel welcome and I just moved into the area so naturally was looking for clubs to join - this won’t be my choice for a few reasons. First being the pro shop, first impressions are everything and he lacked any kind of impression. It’s a members course that is very good for the beginner or older golfer and a distinct lack of practice facilities. If you want to improve your game, this isn’t the place

Hi golfbuddy92
Thank you for your review and I am sorry that you felt unwelcome at our club. We pride ourself on being a place that golfers can visit and enjoy themselves thoroughly and I apologise that we did not live up to those standards on this occasion. I do however take issue with your comment that we tried to charge you twice which is very ambiguous to say the least! At no point during your initial check in process did you mention that you had booked a tee time online with Golfnow. This was only mentioned after the signing in process and was immediately rectified. Please do not leave leading comments which give a false impression of the actual events!
Thank you
Hidden gem
Lovely course not really that known about.
Greens were in great condition, probably down to all the recent rain!
It wasn’t busy and the bar and facilities are good for a small course.
Great value
Course on great condition, still very easy to lose a ball if not on the fairway though..
Cheeky nine
Nice little 9 hole course with two sets of tees to complete the full 18. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely play again
Datchet Golf
Really enjoyed the course only issue was the lack of Stock in the Shop
Would have bought some gifts for some palls but nothing available,,,,,,,
4 Holes Closed
I paid for 18 holes but holes 2 & 8 were closed due to flooding. As this is a 9 hole course you play twice it meant in effect 4 out of 18 holes were closed. Also the 9th/18th is a only a 96 yard chip as the 8th is flodded.
I was not advised of the hole closures by Golf Now.
I just played a few of the holes 3 timed to make up for the 4 that were closed.
The greens are in good condition.
Lovely fairways and Green
A wonderful experience, played for the first time. Fairways are pretty big, and greens are maintained. Had a great time. Actually there are nine holes and few have got different tee off areas when you repeat them. Worth playing.
Great course
Bargain, great little course, good value for money greens are fantastic
Lovely course
Lovely course, just a bit difficult this time if year finding your ball, even on the fairway, leaves,as expected really
Worth a round
Played in the rain, but still enjoyable.. greens were good.
Good challenge
Course up to its usual good condition. Grass on fairways a bit long in places but I didn't lose any balls and there had been a lot of rain the day before. Greens pretty good and had been recently treated and so a little sandy. Although 9 holes, 6 of them have different tee boxes on the back 9 and some are very difficult for the average player. Very good value at weekend and, if playing on your own, larger groups always let you through, which isn't alawys the case on other courses. .
This comment is rubbish. I have just played the course, all fairways were mown with mud normal for the time of the year, having played many courses around the area its the exact same everywhere else. The tee boxes are in fine condition and i for one didnt even use a tee on the first because it was so freshly cut. Dont be discouraged by this guy, its a lovely hidden gem,.
