SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas

About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Nice course, poor value
Tee to green was great. The greens were not in good condition. The pace of play was terrible - 5 hours!! No GPS on the golf carts. I didn’t see a chipping green if it was there. Staff was friendly. Cart girls rounded frequently enough.
Great golf course
Only reason I have 4 stars in one area is cause 2 greens weren’t in the best of shape but still playable, Overall and awesome course to play especially if you get a hot deal. The pro shop is nice they have GREAT selection of shirts and to my surprise they aren’t too expensive. I usually expect to see in the 90-100 range but they were in the 50-65 range. They have cart girls serving cold drinks through out the course. The putting green is in great shape and the driving range is decent. Everyone I interacted with was nice and especially front desk and bar tender and all the other staff not to mention. Again the price is a bit steep but you get what you pay for. I’m looking forward to playing there again SOON.
Nice Course
First time played, nice putting green and driving range, though 30 practice balls were $9.
Course was demanding which I liked. Fairways were excellent. Cart paths are in need of repair throughout.
The clubhouse, grounds and locker rooms need updating.
I plan to play again. .
SilverHorn 4/21
Silverhorn is always one of my favorite course.
However starting to see some wear and tear a lack of maintenance.
The area saw some rain Sunday so you would expect some muddy conditions. However, there were wood chip on almost every cart part making them slippery to walk on.
Several green are in rough share. 15,16 have bald spot. There were tire mark nears several greens on the course.
16'stee box has been a disaster for several years and there has been no work to repair it.
There is no drinking water on the course and for warm days it is needed.
One the few course with no GPS in the carts.
Great course
Staff at pro shop are great !! Friendly and welcoming.
Course is in great shape.
This Gem Losing its Luster
Silverhorn is a great course but they don't seem to have enough water to keep up the fairways and the greens are suffering also.
Slow Pace
Played in just under 5 hours. Saw a Marshall and asked what was the hold up to which he said he didn't know.
Fast greens with the odd bare spot.
Course is a great value. Wouldn't order food they forget to make it and tell you they were just too busy. Waited 30 min no one else was eating had to get a refund.
Fun course, but plays slow
Played as a twosome and ended up behind several slow playing foursomes. 15-20 minutes per hole. I don’t mind things slowing down, as long as the groups in front make some sort of effort. They need a Marshall on the course to help with the pace of play. Unfortunately it ‘par for the course’ here.
A little stacked up
Played on a Monday afternoon hot deal. Wind was a factor as it seemed people were having to hit extra shots. We were slow from the second hole on but the company was good.5 1/2 hours but had a great time
Great with a few exceptions.
Silverhorn is a tough but enjoyable track. Its tight fairways, and often small elevated greens demand accuracy more than distance.
The conditions were excellent for winter golf and at the price point. A few sloped tee-boxes mixed in were a drawback but overall 8/10.
The staff was friendly as always and everyone there seems welcoming and kind.
Two large draw backs was the pace of play and bathrooms available. We were behind a group of 5 that were very slow, and had impatient people behind us hitting into us multiple times. The short par fours often cause traffic jams and it would be nice if they had a marshal keeping pace of play up and not allow groups of 5.
Bathrooms were also not available except for a portapotty. The woman in our group had no options and that really isn't okay for what they are charging.
Overall this course is a great option in San Antonio, but a few small things keep it from being an absolute gem.
Lots of potential
Because of timing, wasn't able to catch this course in prime conditions. I suspect it would be a spectacular track. Really like the layout but course conditions were less than stellar due to time of year.
