Bridlepath still in winter mode
I have fond memories of Bridlepath and always try and get back and play it every now and again - the course is currently a bit muddy but is in relatively decent condition for late winter / early spring. It's a bit sad to see that the club has had to resort to security gates at the cross over points - probably in a bid to keep the unlicensed and uninsured motor cross brigade off the course two of which were buzzing back and forwards during our round - the local police should be attending to the problem but as seems increasingly usual these days they were nowhere to be seen. The course is quite popular which tends to result in pace of play being a bit slow at weekends and we were a bit surprised to see buggies being allowed onto the course to churn up fragile turf at this time of year.
Winter fairways
Enjoyed the course, but wasn’t aware of the winter fairway matts being a restriction until we got there, I looked on the website before hand and no mention of this. Totally understand why they put this in place but you should make people aware. Other than that, it was really enjoyable.
Excellent city course
Course in great condition despite winter weather. Also nicely sheltered, as it was an extremely windy day.
Great value
For time of year course was in excellent condition, looking forward to play in the summer next year.
Really enjoyed this course
Considering it was November course was in very good condition some really nice holes and we will definitely play the course again
It's alright
We played early November and it was clear to see that winter preparations were under way. Some areas on the course hold water more than others. There's a lot of trees but the fallen leaves hadn't been cleaned from fairways, so anything off the beaten track you were hunting for a lost ball.
Early start
Nice fairways and quite challenging but very enjoyable
Paid £35 which I thought was a little expensive but worthwhile
Best in Area
I last played the Bridleoath 45 years ago. Returned with a friend who plays many Scottish courses and we’re both bery impressed with this course. Fantastic fairways. Great greens. Wonderful day out. Thank you
Lovely Course
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this for the first time.
Excellent layout, friendly staff, and course presented in good condition.
Would recommend and will play again..
Slow but that didn’t spoil it!
We (3 golfers) played at 13:52 on a Friday but unfortunately there had been a 75 strong corporate event on late morning meaning the course was well backed up with some “none-regular” golfers - you know the ones, Jack about and have no idea how to take a bunker, replace a (often sizeable) divot or repair a pitch mark!
However this didn’t detract too much from the afternoon. Course was in fantastic condition, with the fairways and semi just right and the greens running fast and true! Obviously shooting a decent score helps the positivity too 😂
All the staff we came across were super friendly too. Looking forward to going back soon!
Nice course in good condition
Gosforth is a lovely golf course with some really nice features, it flows nicely and is pleasant to walk. Course conditions were really good considering the amount of rain that had fallen in the days prior to my day. Greens are outstanding, very clean, consistent and free from any signs of the poor weather start to the year that i've seen elsewhere. Roll was true and even with no variation in grass type or growth rates. Unfortunate for some temporary greens, but understandable. Friendly staff and members, rewarded with a good score and a birdie on the first, which is always a nice starting bonus!
Wow. What a little gem!
I simply love this course. Great layout. Fantastic condition even considering the weather we have had. Greens and bunkers are in top condition. My go to course when working away in Newcastle. It helps that I always shoot my best scores here.
Putting great is great, warm up nets are fantastic. The staff and members are so friendly and there is plenty of parking.
Nice course , friendly staff
Enjoyed course , some interesting holes , course in good condition considering the poor weather this year
Little gem
Lovely course, loads of variations in holes. Course in great condition considering the weather we have had. Staff in the club house and one of the greenkeeping staff extremely friendly and chatty. Would highly recommend
Very enjoyable 18 holes
A very pleasing parkland course with a few water hazards running thru the course.
A pleasant, helpful professional in pro shop. A very impressive club house serving a varied selection of beers, well worth a visit.. Staff & members are very welcoming.
