Always great to play here!
No matter what the weather course is always in great condition.
Harder than it first appears. Particularly if you aren’t driving straight- narrow fsirways!
Plus small greens which you don’t want yo run through.
Plus of course…..the wind!

Lovely course to play in the winter sunshine.
Fairways & Greens in very good condition.
Most enjoyable!
Course in great condition. Unlike nany otherd fully playsble.
Narrow fairways and the wind make it a challenge. Greens are small so whilst putting is easier getting on the greens isnt!
Reslly enjoysble.
Always fun!
Unlike a great msny courses in winter Hythe is always open and fully playable. Nice!
Short, narrow fairways with small greens. Far more tricky thsn first appears. Particularly when its windy!
First time round Hythe...fun, affordable and very friendly 😃
Having promised myself a wee round at Hythe every time we come down from Scotland to visit family, 2025 I finally took the plunge. Glad I did!
Managed to secure a discount rate meaning I had change from £15 including a post round coffee. At that price, expectations were realistic given I was paying less than a quid a hole. Pleased to say they were exceeded! Is Hythe a Muirfield, or by Kent standards a Royal St George's....no. Is it an eminently playable, enjoyable and in places testing wee course? Absolutely.
It's an unusual layout with 12 greens and 18 tees, which takes a bit of getting your head around. Helpfully there is a handy one page course plan available from the clubhouse alongside the scorecard to keep you right. In February the grass was short meaning driver, even on a short course of 5400 yards, is a safe enough play. There are few holes where you'll get into real trouble, and even then if you hit it 30 yards right you deserve to land in the canal or beach! With the exception of the three par fives and the 16th you can easily forego driver for a four or five wood, or even long iron. The course was muddy, sitting below sea level, but it was the thick cloggy clay like mud that sticks to your shoes rather than a wet squelchy unpleasant mud. The greens were still playing fairly quick for the time of year, and ran true which was again pleasing on such an affordable course.
Standout holes...favourite is 9/18, a short driveable par 4 that gently doglegs left to a small green. OB all down the left, I chose 4 wood and a 30 yard pitch. I also enjoyed the short par 3 6th / 15th which (in the right light!) evokes memories of the Postage Stamp at Royal Troon, albeit a tad longer at circa 130 yards.
Pace of play...front nine was slow due to a trio of old boys out for their nine hole hit. Back nine was rapid as course was quiet. Again, for the money I'm not complaining!
Really friendly welcome on arrival, including members in the car park and clubhouse. A few hellos and quick chats out on the course too, followed by a warm welcome from Karen in the clubhouse for a post round coffee.
Having walked beside the course in the summer, it does dry out to play as a short, firm links. In winter, it is a bit slower and softer but please remember the price! I highly recommend for a fun, pleasant bargain round.
Nice to not lose a ball
Good little 9 hole course. Does have 12 greens which if anything gives you a little variety but being that others are playing front 9 to one green and you are playing back 9 to the neighbouring green but sharing a fairway then as you split you end up arriving at the next Tee together and everything just backs up. 4 older chaps not willing to let us through despite talking on each tee and waiting an age. Not a test in terms of tightness but a nice walk. Very flat, few to little hazards. Good for the mid to high handicap. Tidy little clubhouse.
Sub standard fairway
The greens were good but the grass was to long on the fairways, you could not always see your ball, even on the fairways. The first cut was also to long , more like rough un places.
A great course by the sea
The course is very well maintained and the club house is the most friendly and welcoming I have been to in the area.
Great day of golf
Loved plying the course and had a great time the course is in great condition. Only “problem” I perceive is as a first time player of this course there were no course maps out on the course and it can be confusing with the layout also with the nature of the course sharing greens etc it would be more helpful having more arrows and directions out on the course. Also more bins would be good.
Nice 9 hole by the beach
Pretty standard 9 hole track with some nice holes. Staff very friendly and normally not very busy. Very basic facilities and in OK condition. Slow greens. Not for the connesiour but good for a quick knock
Quirky course
The course is an 18 hole with 12 greens the way it’s layed out is very quirky and would play again the sea is right next to you so I’m glad it was not a windy day .
Very Freindly staff if you want hot food your better off eating before you arrive as they do not have this facility which was not a problem as we had local fish n chips after our round .
Would definitely play again .
Unique
An interesting and unique little course. Really friendly staff and enjoyable chance at links golf.
A short course easy on the legs along the seafront and although a 9 hole course with different T positions to make it an 18 hole course don’t let this put you off
Hythe Imperial
The course was extremely dry which was surprising considering the amount of rain that had fallen in recent weeks. It was hard to get a tee in the ground. It was well cared for and in generally good condition.
A rather confusing layout with a number of hole crossing each other. I thought the greens were a bit on the small side making it difficult to pitch a ball on and getting it to stay on the green.
Not that much in the way of off course facilities but there is a small ‘clubhouse’ with a limited stock of refreshments.
