This course is neglected
Bunkers overgrown with plants, tee boxes in poor state, greens not well maintained. Member in the car park said it was closing in a month. Obviously not investing any money in the upkeep before it closes.

Course looked a little un kept I believe it is due for redesign but still could have been better kept Greens ok.
Lovely course , great looking holes, greens are very good
Played here with my friend and we are both high handicappers. Course was a good challenge with lots of contours on the fairway. The par 3s are very tricky with water or raised greens with bunkers protecting them.
Great place to play and have fun . Can’t wait to go again.
Very good
Played this course many times and it has been getting better and better recently, one of my favourite courses to play. The greens are in the best conditions I’ve seen in a long time and you can attack the pin without the worry of it bouncing over the back.
Beautiful course, good value.
Loved playing here. Unfortunately the bunkers were ground under repair and the bar was closed but that was down to corona virus. I thought it was great - will definitely be back. Pace of play was also excellent - never had to wait and barely saw another person on the course even though we had a group immediately in front and behind.
Good Local Course
Overall a good local course. Very hilly particularly on the opening 9. Some very tough par 4s in length however plenty of par 5 opportunities to make it back. Greens and fairways in good condition. Bunkers need work
Overall a good local course and well priced
Terrible condition
This is not just from temporary closure. It’s from months, if not years of neglect. Every single one of the bunkers would be GUR at any other course. I have never seen bunkers this bad. The tee boxes are pretty much non-existent. I have seen tidier rugby pitches. The greens are just about ok.
It’s a shame because this could be a nice course if it had proper greenkeepers. But in its current condition it’s not even worth a tenner to play.
Potential to be great
I played this on a hot bank holiday Monday. I agree with many of the other reviews on two points:
1) This has the potential to be an excellent course:
It’s long all the way and tight in places and tends to reward good shots and punish bad ones. The par five eighth was the standout hole for me, and the front nine has some fantastic views out over the Oxfordshire countryside and beyond.
2) The condition lets it down:
Having seen some of the other comments I was wary, especially after a few dry weeks, but actually found the greens to be in pretty good nick. The same cannot be said of the tees which were patched bare and rarely flat, or the fairways, which were patchy and extremely dry. Plus the sand in the bunkers was the worst I have ever seen.
On the whole it was an enjoyable round, especially at £19 on a bank holiday. The shortcomings of the course condition were not enough to spoil the experience of an interesting an challenging layout. But a little extra TLC from the greenkeeping staff could make this a first class venue.
The irony is that at £19 I left thinking “fair enough, that was decent for the price”, but they could easily charge £40-50 to visitors if they sorted the course condition,
You should Getty the course
Played yesterday and despite some negative reviews, I would say ignore them and go play the course. A little dry and bunkers in shocking condition but after lockdown and I am sure folks bring furloughed, it’s easy to see why and they are working hard to bring it back. All in all the course was an absolute pleasure. Fairways lovely, greens were slow but again not surprised and I know they’ll be sorted soon. Staff very friendly and welcoming, met the club captain Ed on the way round, very nice chap who was very pleased to see us on the course. Lots of clubs are not nearly so welcoming, if you get a chance give these guys a go.
Course was fantastic!
I've read the reviews on here and was not going to bother playing, but it was only place available.
I turned up and couldn't have been more surprised.
Apart from the tee boxes which were a bit dry and burnt out, the rest of the course was fantastic. Fairways were superb, cross cut looking awesome, greens were in great condition, albeit a bit fluffy, but seeing as we've just had 7 week lockdown, these will be awesome after maybe two more cuts.
Don't let the negative reviews put you off, as on my recent trip I loved it!
Lockdown Golf
Greens were in good condition. The tee boxes were awful however for me it’s not a real problem as you tee your ball up rather than play off the deck.
Great layout/design, poor condition
I was extremely impressed with the course architecture, so many memorable holes, great length and challenges. The condition was however disappointing. This course has so much potential in the right hands. I honestly believe if the condition was even of a reasonable standard then it could go down as the best course for miles for sure. Really poor tee boxes, extremely hard fairways with strange grass where you never really got a nice lie, and slow greens really let it down. There were also three of the slowest 2 balls I’ve ever seen in front, at one point we had 4 groups waiting on a tee. That’s tough to manage for sure, but again detracted from what could be a 5 star course.
Don’t bother!!
The pro shop wasn’t open when we arrived.
The corse was only partyly open.
The club house was soulless
The course even taken the recent weather in to account was very poorly maintained.
It might get better!!!
Tried it again but not overly impressed
Pro Shop very friendly but the range is in a shocking state.
Greens lumpy. Fairways full of moss and bunkers shocking condition.
New owners so hopefully they will change EVERYTHING and put it back to where it was 15 years ago. If they do it could be very good again but I’m not holding my breath. Here’s hoping as layout is still very good.
Not bad, but course looks a bit tired
I played here 20 years back and was blown away by the course condition and the layout. Coming back was a bit of a disappointment.
The layout is very challenging, and with the soft fairways and wind, some of the par 4 holes were hard to hit in two. The greens were just a bit dry, and looked a tad worn in places. But they were playable.
What does worry me most, was that the bunkers were awful, truly awful and unplayable. The sand is more a muddy mush. GUR areas were covered in weeds and probably will not repair well. Signs to show direction to holes were unreadable, so why bother having them?
The putting green was atrocious and not fit for purpose.
Basically, they just need to tidy up the course as it just looks scruffy.
Great test of golf!
Played this course for the 2nd time and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Par 73 championship layout With long rough if you're wayward off the tee.
Great value at £16 for the round booked on Golfnow.
First time
Not an very experienced golfer, but found some fairways and greens in need of some TLC compared to others played this Spring. Perhaps not yet recovered from long summer last year? Spiked greens not sanded and heavily dosed with some kind of treatment not watered in so ball and hands covered after putting.
