Manor House Golf Club

About
More than £3m has been spent on the Manor House Golf Club at Castle Combe since its acquisition by Exclusive Hotels and Golf Clubs in 1994 to establish it as one of the South West's premier golf, business and social venues. Together with its famous sister hotel, The Manor House, it has been recognised as one of the top play-and-stay destinations in the world. The golf course and clubhouse are always immaculately presented while the natural drainage ensures excellent year-round play so often denied in the South.
The clubhouse offers both the informal Spike Bar with an extensive menu, and the Woodbury Restaurant with it brasserie style Table D'hote Menu.
The Manor House Golf Club boasts a Michelin Star restaurant, and offers facilities for large golf events, meetings and conferences and is a stunning setting for both wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Designed by Peter Alliss, who claimed "there can be no finer setting for an English golf course," the 6,500-yard championship course is recognised as one of the toughest around. Nestling in an area of outstanding natural beauty are some of the most memorable and challenging holes you will play. From the stunning par-5 12th that traverses the Bybrook valley to the signature 17th that presents you with a 40-meter drop to the green, the course delights at every turn. A full range of practice facilities is available, with a USGA spec driving range, putting green and pitching green with practice bunkers.

Beautiful but get a Buggy!
Super course in excellent condition but as most other reviews will say, get yourself a buggy for this one. Very hilly and there's a fair distance between some of the greens and next tee boxes. Pace of play also wasn't the best, but with the hills and distance you're going to struggle to get round here in less than 4 hours.
All that being said, this is a real gem of a course with some very quirky holes and stunning views across the Cotswold's hills and valleys. The staff member in the pro shop was extremely friendly, giving us welcome advice as first timers on the course and even a discount on the buggy. Very good value for money at £35pp with county cards on a weekday (likely a bit more at weekends), and with the buggy I think we paid about 50 quid which was still well worth it. I did book directly through ringing the pro shop and paying on the day though and believe you are able to do the same directly through the Manor House's website, worth considering as we all know what Golf Now's booking system can be like. I'd highly recommend playing here if in the area and would definitely come back!
Amazing stunning course
We played this on way back from Celtic manor and what a treat. The course is amazing. Couple of stunning par 3s starting with the 2nd and finishing with the amazing 17th. After playing Celtic manor with soggy fairways we were treated to lovely firm fairways. The greens were pure. It's a very hilly course strongly recommend a buggy. The views are stunning. Highly recommend this course.
Awesome course!
Tee off times got our tee time wrong but the Manor House sorted it all out for us. Great course with quick greens and good practice facilities and quality food and drink
Slow, slow,slow
We were quite encouraged when we spoke to the chap in the golf shop, he told us there were very few people on the course and a big gap between us and the groups ahead. We caught up with the first group after three holes and they kindly let us through. It went downhill from then on. We got held up behind a group playing as part of a corporate day. They wouldn’t let us through. We had a long wait on every hole from then on, particularly on the hole where they had their longest drive with a pro in attendance, eight of them driving !! After 20mins I asked them what the hold up was. This would have been an opportunity to let us through, but no. On we went. They all met up again on the 17th and played the last two holes as an eight. Given that only two of them appeared to be golfers it was a torturous experience. I complained when we got back to the club and whilst the chap was apologetic that was it. Never again, which is a shame. The moral here: check there aren’t any corporate groups ahead of you when you book a tee time.
Interesting challenge
Great course, helped by using Hole 19 App to understand course layout on each hole. Par 4s short but challenging nevertheless.
Very steep climbs up and out of the valley floor, not for the feint hearted. 2 or 3 amazing holes. None disappointed.
Superb course
A brilliant golf course with superbly kept fairways and greens. You must take a buggy but if you can get a round and buggy for anything around the £40 or below, it is well worth it.
