Course very good condition considering the recent wea
A top 5 course in Shropshire
Having played Market Drayton several times, the course is a well payed out, challenging layout that forces you to think your way through your shots. Condition is always fantastic in the summer and drains well in the winter. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Pro shop could be slightly better stocked and the driving range facilities are basic.
Overall, I’d definitely put Market in the top 5 courses in Shropshire with the likes of Shifnal, The Wrekin, The Astbury and Hawkstone Park in my opinion
Great course
Booked a 2:15 tee time on a lovely Saturday afternoon,
Arrived staff friendly and welcoming, nothing to much trouble.
All holes are great but the gems are the 2 par 3’s in the front 9.
We hired a buggy for this round and I’m glad we did as there are plenty of up and downs.
No groups in front or behind us which also made for a stress free couple of hours.
Fantastic Course
Conditions were outstanding for this time of the year. Only two temp greens on the 15th and 17th. Some real feature Par 3s. Overall a stunning course and can’t wait to play there again
A visit to Market Drayton
I have always enjoyed playing this course, you are always made to feel welcome. The course has a great lay out and it's always very well presented. Although the weather has not been good, the course is well established so I have always been impressed when I play here and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone as a possible venue.
Fast greens tight fairways, course is great set up plus its up and down great test of golf .
This course is best iv played fast greens great views tight fairways my first time playing was slow play but cos course is great it was not a problem.
Excellent
Very good course, really well kept. Dry-ish fairways but really receptive greens in Jul 2022.
I played at 3pm-ish and paid £20 on GolfNow, excellent value for money.
Practice putting green by the first tee, and practice nets by the car park means you can warm up before playing.
A few holes which criss-cross, which I imagine can slow things up a little on a busy day, but overall a very enjoyable experience, will definitely play again.
Unbeatable value & excellent condition
From the helpful Professional to the course condition this really is unbeatable value. It’s places a premium on accuracy and rewards tactical/positional tee shots. Not long by any means but the pins can be located in very challenging positions. Highly recommended.
Deciding Factor
Played there yesterday afternoon. The course was very quiet and only had a slight holdup by three lady members from holes 7-9. The fairways and greens were in lovely condition. Quite hilly though. Downside for me was the price of the buggy hire for non members. It cost more than the round! £25!!!
I have no choice as I have a disability when prevents me from walking round. No concessions for the disabled! Won’t be hurrying back til they review this problem.
Good value
Course was in good condition, fairways well cut and greens consistent (slow). Course was empty when we played so no issue with slow play. The layout is slightly eccentric and not very well signposted. We struggled on a few holes to find our way to the next tee. Most of the holes are relatively short, so good opportunity of hitting approach shots with mid irons or less. Two very nice par 3’s with very elevated tee boxes - great fun. All in all fairly priced at £30. Not a track which will be memorable but a very nice afternoon of golf.
Ok, v hilly first few holes , and can struggle find next tee.
Staff was friendly
VALUE FOR MONEY
I played with my son on a Sun afternoon at a cost of £40 per person. We were very disappointed in that the tee areas required mowing and the fairways were extremely inconsistent varying from total bare lies (cut to short) to second cut of rough when in the middle of the fairways. The cost was not worth the money. In saying all above the greens were very receptive and ran true. True cost of playing in my opinion would have been £25.
