Percy Wood Golf & Country Retreat

About
Percy Wood Golf & Country Retreat (formerly known as Swarland Hall Golf Club) is a proprietary club with a membership of approximately 400 of which about a third are Ladies. Both sexes have equal rights within the club.
The club was founded in 1993 and in addition to our 18 hole course we have a very well appointed clubhouse with a large bar area and separate dining room offering bar meals and full a la carte menu, respectively. The pro shop is fully stocked, buggy and trolley hire are available.
Parkland course set within some mature woodland. The fairways are undulating but with out any exclusive steep inclines. Many of the holes enjoy spectacular views.

Good Value
£10 a round, can’t really say much about it. With the recent good weather and lack of irrigation the greens and tees were starting to burn off. However as said, for £10 it was pretty decent value for money. Unsure if I’d play here again
.Poor
This course used to be great, when it was open! This course is effectively closed and forgotten about. There is no pro shop and no clubhouse. It is being left to rot. The owner seemingly only cares about income from the holiday park and as a result there is barely any course maintenance. Greens awful and bunkers all have to play GUR as they are full of grass. Spend your money elsewhere!!
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Having looked at the photos provided on this website I thought we would be in for a brilliant round and a steal at £19, That quickly changed on arriving for our 10am tee time, the "Club shop" was closed, there was nobody to be seen, we obviously didn't have a scorecard to start the round.
The course itself, looking from the 1st tee it looked like a nice par 3, as we approached the greens however it was extremely disappointing. The bunkers had barely any sand in them, they were full of weeds and we were having to move our ball in them because it was basically unplayable in some of them.
it looks like the course is barely treated, extremely poor and would highly recommend paying an extra £5-£6 to play elsewhere.
If i could get a refund I would it was that bad.
Excellent Course
Excellent course set in terrific parkland. Conditions weren't perfect weather-wise but very good day all the same. Well worth a visit.
a good test of golf
course in good condition overall, fairways were really good .greens a bit patchy but putted fine.semi rough was fair and well kept, away from semi there is deep rough but wide enough not to go in .a good test of golf.
Shocking greens
I played there today as part of a party of 14!....friendly pro and good shop!...course wise is another matter. The greens were shocking, patchy and covered in what looked like nobbly tyre marks.it was like putting on corrugated cardboard. My party will not be going back!......a lot of work needed
Great staff, shame about the course
Course needs attention, the greens are very patchy, the fairways on the front 9 are patchy in places and the tee boxes have seen better days. This was my first time playing this course, the weather was perfect, it should of been a great game of golf, but the course condition let everything down. I will not play here again unfortunately.
First time played. Not too testing in a nice setting. Friendly welcome in the pro shop and club house.
I love this course
We play this course every year when we come on holiday to Northumberland. It's a lovely course with a variety of challenges and has always been in excellent condition whenever we have played. We've always found people in this region to be really friendly and helpful and the surroundings are beautiful.
We were mortified this year when we were told that it was to be a 9 hole course in the future to enable another 200 static mobile homes/lodges.
Handy for a quick game
Not a bad course, but always seems to have a load of pensioners in front who never give way, stand and talk instead of playing, and hit the ball 50 yards with the driver.
Great course
Weather was great made for a smashing round with my wife
37 points played well. Happy days
Lots of short par 4s
Quite a few blind holes
Could do with some more signs between holes
