Reading Golf Club
What a superb course tough conditions but an absolute belter such a shame that they are closing next year as this is one of the best courses in the area and will be back to play again
Great value for pleasurable golf
Play before it becomes a housing estate
A third of the course is benign parkland but the rest is interesting and challenging without being difficult
A 100-year-old golf club with a lovely layout. Play it before it's gone.
A 100-year-old golf club on the border of Berkshire and South Oxfordshire with a lovely layout. A good opportunity to play this course before it disappears in 2021 since a huge housing state is going to be developed in the area, members have already agreed since they are going to receive a juice 6 figure sum..who wouldn't ;-) who can blame them.
Beautiful course
I know by playing on a Monday lunch time is always going to be quieter, but it did give me a chance to take in the course and all it offered. Really enjoyed the course and the various challenges from sweeping hill shots to tricky par 3’s up hill or over deep dips. The greens are very well kept and overall an incredible course that I enjoyed playing. I will be back very soon.
Rolling fairways
Good mix of holes, different challenges with some hills and slopes and plenty of flat too. A good day out.
Cracking winter greens !
First four holes are ok. A little bit up and down and you start to think that it’s gonna be one of those courses that’s packed into a small plot. That all changes when you hit the fifth, and from then on it’s a fantastic layout with lots of elevation changes and sloping fairways. The greens are excellent for the time of year, running true and at a good pace. Did find myself repairing at least three or four fresh pitchmarks on most greens though. The green keepers must get very frustrated.
Reading golf course
Good condition greens some hills if you struggle with walking to far
Excellent!
What a pleasant surprise this course provided. From the friendly greeting in the ProShop, the course continued to please. The fairways were not perfect following the summer heat but everything else was great. And the greens were fantastic, smooth, grassy, true. At the price, an absolute gem!
Some great holes
Some great holes, number 5 is a peach
Lots of elevation changes
Good condition considering the dry spell
Practice area right next to first tee
Members were friendly
Be prepared for a decent hike
No chance for refreshemants halfway due to the back 9 not starting from the clubhouse, however the interesting layout made up for this
Staff member not the friendliest
Excellent course with full variety of holes. Good true greens, nice speed. Course is a credit to ground staff. Nice roomy fairways with good opportunity to open shoulders. The par 3's are good test of short game and the natural use of the contours on a number of par 4's adds to the fun. The use of an electric trolley for seniors is highly recommended as one or two holes are of the cardiac types. Do not let that put you off this little gem, just be prepared.
A lovely day with special note of the friendliness of staff and members.
What a shame
The golf course was sodden. Also playing 9 temporary greens such a shame
A gem of a course
I love this course, it's always in fantastic condition, extremely friendly members who do not begrudge visitors.
I live locally and if I was to join a club this is the one I would choose even though I live a stones throw away from Sonning.
After the first 4 holes, which are little up and down but still challenging because of their length, the course opens out into a variety of holes with splendid views.
If you haven't already played here then treat yourself.
Cheers Mark
Take my money!
Lovely clean cut presentable layout. Some of the holes have real character like hennerton golf club.
Great value for money, especially on the TEE OFF TIMES app.
Good Round
Course in good condition and good pace of play. Would definitely recommend playing here
Good course, slow play and inconsiderate members
The course was in very good condition. The first 4 holes were up and down hole, with not much going on. Then the course drops into the valley and becomes a lot more interesting to play for 12 holes, then back to up and down holes to finish off. The first 8 holes were quick but we quickly caught up with club players, who refused to let anyone play through, which really slowed things up, (3 hrs for 10 holes). At the bar, Members pushed in and got served in front of those queuing.
