Winter golf round
2nd time out this year. Played this course before and I like it's set up. Lots of challenges. Fairways were in good condition and the greens in places could do with some care and attention. Overall, fantastic value at £15 for the round. Will be going again.
Don’t waste your time or money
How can you call this a golf course. £36 x2 golfers, daylight robbery. Needs to be taken off of here and never to be advertised. Golfnow would be ashamed. Work on the course or shut it down.
Get what you pay for
I can’t really slate this course for the price of £15 for a round in that mind it’s great but don’t expect anything amazing here. It’s a pretty straight course but not dead straight, signs are highly lacking without my swingu app I’d be clueless where to go on quite a few holes even with the app we started to play two holes a second time before noticing the mistake.
Club house is very dated and pretty run down no cooked for avaible ever so don’t expect to eat here we went the The old bell 2 mins away with was a lovely traditional pub with great food and a great pint of Guinness.
This club has been sold and it’s shows as the staff don’t seem to bothered about their jobs I turned up at 8.45 to check in for my tee time at 9.06 and it seemed like the course was closed everything was shut no idea what to do I could have easily not have paid and just gone on the course with no one the wiser, putting green is ok, driving range has no distance markers so do expect to go there to practice to improve really it’s just a warm up range in my eyes
Great value for money
Had an enjoyable round of golf on a great course. The conditions were good and the course was kept well, although I can imagine it does get wet winter time. I have played lots of different courses throughout East Anglia and this is one of my favourites, so I’m not sure what these people who leave poor reviews are used to 🤷🏻♂️. It was my first time playing here and will certainly not be my last.
18 holes
First Time playing here very good course and great value for money
Challenging
Course was as I’d expect for a parkland course with lots of water hazards, very soft but totally playable.
Challenging course, tee to green but greens reasonably easy, many water hazards and the rough is very thick just off the fairways to the point I lost a few balls that should have been found.
Needs more next tee markers but I managed to find my way.
Some really nice holes on the course a few just after thoughts but October views of tree lined fairways were great.
All staff and other golfers friendly an enjoyable round.
Would play again.
Great course
Really happy with this course, I find this one a bit trickier than the others I play but that's what I like about it, bit more thought involved. Very enjoyable course.
Reasonable value for money
The visit to Richmond Park Golf Club served the purposes intended for my wife and I. We stayed in the on-site accommodation and used our stay as an opportunity to visit different locations in Norfolk, such as Norwich and Sandringham. We knew we weren’t playing at The Belfry! The pace of play was great because very few people play there! It is such a pity, because there is potential to make this a much more attractive venue, but it is clear that the owners have a struggle on their hands to make this a viable, fully functioning, golf club. We wish them well.
Do not waste your time
Course hadn’t been cut. Dead duck laying next to tee box. Greens cracked open and black. Tee boxes in awful condition. Awful sign postage to each tee box. Overall waste of a round and waste of money, wouldn’t recommend to anyone due to looking like I’d visited the course during a worldwide disaster in which every green keeper had been abducted.
Sleeping Beauty
I hadn't played at Richmond Park for several years. It was one of my favourite courses to play. I was a bit disappointed to see that the place has been unloved for a while.
Just turning up in the car park you can see the decline, with weeds everywhere and untrimmed hedges. The course looks like it's understaffed, as the rough has been allowed to grow in to a very punishing level. Especially along the sides of streams and ditches. The tee boxes, although they had been cut, were covered in weed. The fairways were in generally good condition and neatly cut. Some of the greens were in poor condition in places, but overall they were cut and ran smoothly.
The clubhouse also appears understaffed, with the bar staff also running the Pro shop.
All in all, this is still a lovely golf club. It's just in need of a bit of TLC to get it back to it's former glory.
We paid £18 each for a weekend round of golf. Good value for money in my opinion.
Woeful
Such a shame, course was always in lovely condition and a pleasure to play. Now it’s hard to find a course out there. Tees and greens not maintained, similar to a pitch and putt and the beach but probably even worse. No markers out anywhere, flag sticks are old and torn. Only good thing is it’s dead as no one wants to play. Hard to find a member of staff and it’s like a ghost town
Lack of maintainence
You couldn’t tell the fairway from the rough. Tee boxes overgrown. Pro shop wasn’t open at 10am on a Sunday. Poor overall experience and won’t be returning.
Lovely course but greens need a bit of tlc
Greens have seen better days, nice to see that the pin was in the best part of the green but large dead areas and large cracks not ideal. Great course layout but as a first time visitor a few signs for tee locations would have been appreciated or even a course map on the back of the scorecard would have helped
Could be really good
Played here a few times just recently, really relaxed vibe about the place, the heavy rough is brutal, and some of fairways tight. not very busy for a Saturday, so if not to bothered about immaculate greens and tee boxes, and just want a social fun round, you have nothing to lose.
Re-visited
Introducing my son playing on a full course, was good experience, I am a member elsewhere, but local to this course, i used to play it as part of a society. In them days it was very good. The rough is particularly challenging, and the three times we have played recently, they have cut that back quite a bit. Bunkers are generally compacted sand, and the greens look worse than they actually play. there was no staff on site or the bar was not open, so cannot comment on that aspect. but for what we paid and where we travelled from would recommend for a twilight round but keep your expectations low to moderate.
