An Open Qualifier worth visiting
This course is just a couple of par 5's from Royal Lytham the host of many men's, ladies and senior Opens. In fact it is a final qualifying course for the various Opens and as such presents a good challenge but rewards the player who avoids the traps. The putting greens are true and are in use throughout the year, as are the majority of tee boxes. The club has the facility to introduce an extra hole for use if one of the other 18 are closed. There is a chipping and putting area plus driving nets close to the clubhouse and a substantial practice area a short walk from the clubhouse.
The course is very close to the sea and when the wind picks up you know you have a test in front of you. Bunkers are plentiful and you shouldn't expect to get too much distance from them. The same goes with the rough; should you stray too far from the fairway your best option is to simply get your ball back in play.
The course is playable all year round and you should look out for the local wildlife.
