Played this course during a trip to Alaska this past summer. It hosts an annual US Open qualifier (the only one in the state), so I assumed it would probably be a nice course, and it was. It was a fairly standard layout with flat, wide fairways and a decent number of hazards. Conditions were a bit scruffy, but that's par for course up there. Views of the mountains were fantastic. I'd recommend it if you find yourself in Alaska.
Absolutely RUDE in every way
Came out with a few of my buddies and started of bad they were rude upfront. We had 2 guys from out of town first time golfing. On our side messed up by not telling them to not byo drinks. But they came out yelling at the new guys before we even teed off saying they are gonna kick them. Could’ve handled it way better and could’ve just told them that its not allowed on the coarse. 2 new guys rented clubs and majority of set was missing. They offer no refund and not even a discount. We just kept dealing with their rudeness. They told the snack shack not to sell drinks to anyone in our group because they tried to bring their own. Ended up playing 15 holes until they kicked us out because my buddy shot eagle and shouted out loud! They said people complained but yet nobody behind us and only one group ahead of us 1 hole. Asked to finish they kept being rude and ended telling us they called cops on us. So ya terrible experience. Course marshal kept following us around every hole as well. Experience ruined palmer coarse for me. Cant convince any of my friends to come back there!
What fun in Alaska!
Can't believe there's no reviews on Palmer Golf course. Well let me get the party started with a 5 star rating. Ok it may be a stretch to call it 5 star, but I'm front loading it for all the grumps who trash courses' ratings! What fun I had at Palmer today! This storied course comes with US Open pedigree, being selected for qualifying for quite a few years now. And while it's not necessarily at the very top tier of golf courses, it's easy to see why the USGA likes this venue. Plenty long and solid challenges make Palmer a lot of fun to play. I hit from the back tees today and glad to say I shot my handicap. Very scenic with snow capped mountains all around, and a living air show/museum as it winds arou d the Palmer airport with all the unique Alaska aviation going on. Pace of play was good for a muni playing.mid week. There are spots that suffer from arctic challenges, so have to play around those, but not a big deal considering where it is located. Overall great time and worth the 45 minutes drive out from Anchorage to play it
