4.5. Cracking course
The course is superbly laid out with a mixture of shorter thinking holes and some longer tests. Plenty of water positioned for poor shots but not overly penal.
Undulating and in good condition, this is one of the very best GN courses I’ve played around the UK.
Decent practice facilities, a lovely clubhouse with nice outdoor spaces, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Spring is taking hold of the course and it has recovered well from hollow tining, with the undulating greens running well albeit slightly bumpy. Nothing the warmer weather won’t sort these next few weeks.
Highly recommended course for all abilities. Be mindful of the hills if not so mobile. Back again soon.
Studley wood
Brilliant course brilliant conditions greens are fantastic condition just brilliant course
Mud fest
I played in the first week of Jan. The course should probably have been closed as it was extremely wet / muddy across the course. Would need to return on a drier day in the Spring / Summer for a fairer assessment.
Studley wood
Conditions fantastic for time of year . Gentleman behind front desk was brilliant got there hour early and he got me out straight away very friendly and helpful.
Thank you
A beautiful gem.
Studley Wood is much loved and reviewed well, and I can totally understand why. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, it feels like a great club. A large welcoming clubhouse with a huge bar, loads of seating and a well stocked pro shop inside, with very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. The intiial view of the course is spectacular, with views of some of the 14 lakes that pepper the course. The layout is nothing short of wonderful, the front 9 takes you around the perimeter of the land, bringing you perfectly back to the clubhouse, before the back 9 plays within view of the clubhouse until you reach the 15th, where you head back out towards the perimiter for a stunning final 4 holes. It is honestly very difficult to pick out some favourite holes because every hole has been designed to offer a unique feel and challenge, and they have succeeded. The 3rd is a particularly attractive dogleg left par 4, with water to clear from the tee and a small lake protecting the green at the front, in the autumn this hole really shone with t he colours of the trees and the sun poking through giving it a stunning glow. The downhill par 3 that follows is also incredibly attractive and with a river running in front of the green feeeding another small lake on the right, very challenging. The 6th intimidates with a large lake down the left side but with an open and inviting fairway in front of you, is a very fun hole to go after. The 8th has a hiuge lake to the right which bleeds in front of the bean shaped green, which is narrow but long. 9 gives you a very small window to aim for between 2 lakes, with an aggressive bunker putting your eye off from pumping one safely down the right. On the back 9, the 12th has a stunning teebox set in the middle of the lake next to the 8th hole, firing at a very tight dogleg round to a small green, a short hole but a challening one. A tougher run follows as you go through holes stroke index 3, 2 and 1 in that order. 16 17 and 18 close the course in a stunning way, first with the downhill par 3 16th that looks back over parts of the front 9, elevated above the fairways giving you great views of the Oxfordshire countryside. The 17th is a par 5 with a blind tee shot, which reveals a beautiful hole as you go over the top, looking down to what looks like an infinity green at the end, rolling off into stunning views the otherway across the county. Before the 18th tee box takes your breath away and gives you an incredible view of the whole property as well as incredible and far reaching views across Oxfordshire. It's stroke index 18 and with it's high tee position, the par 5 last is gettable in 2 for a lot of people. 2 lakes flank the fairway as yu get towards the green and a large bunker protects the left side. In all a stunning golf course, beautifully thought out, incredible fun to play and very welcoming
Another good round
With the Hot Deal just solid value. Greens and fairways very good. quite a quiet day so pace excellent.
Longer grass is a little patchy and thick in places, suspect winter/spring rain left it's mark - you can be a few feet off the green and be in some pretty thick wet stuff - guess that's golf.
Lovely Course , A must play
Enjoyed the game, shame about the wet conditions underfoot, ( heavy showers the previous day), but greens were excellent and tee boxes superb! Would definitely play here again!
Still needs some time to be summer perfect!
I thought I was in for a treat when on the practice putting green but sadly the greens on the course were completely different and for Studley Wood that was disappointing.
Bare patches still around the greens so bare lies are are a 30/70 chance if you miss the greens.
Knowing the green staff at SW they will have it in great condition for the summer.
Stunning
A friend and I booked a hot deal to play here for the first time ever on our way home to Hampshire after a couple of days at the Belfry.
I have to be honest, this venue was more impressive than the Brabazon and PGA courses.
Given recent awful weather in the UK we were unsure what conditions would be like and if there were any restrictions. No issues at all. All 18 holes open with no temps. Very good tee boxes, bunkers in a good state, mostly dry fairways and rapid greens. The layout was interesting and variety of holes exciting to play, with some lovely views.
The female staff member we spoke to was welcoming and friendly, and gave good advice.
I’m hoping I get an opportunity to visit here again in the near future as we were very impressed with everything. No negatives at all. Nothing bad to say
Course was in fantastic condition
Great course, great facilities, superb value for money.
Great course
Played here for the first time.
Kind staff and wonderful green and fairways.
I played with hot deal and it was great over all.
good course
Always in good condition, greens great.
Just very slow had to stop at 13th unfortunately - nearly 4 hours
Excellent golf course
Studley Wood Golf Culb has excellent 18 holes(par 73) with an extra par 5 hole. I had several rounds on this course this year, the green and fairway condition was excellent.
