Sunday evening round
I haven't always felt welcome at this course, and it is somewhat pricey compared to some nearby courses. So I thought I would give it another go, at a fair price for an evening round.
The course is in very good condition, with the greens some of the fastest around. Etiquette of the group in front of me was excellent. I played the Kings course which has a good challenge with gradients, varying dogleg, numerous water courses.
I small downside is all the mounds beside many of the fairway, meaning any teeshot off line can be difficult to follow and find.
Thoroughly enjoyed the round.
5:15 round
Enjoy coming here to play but something has to be done with the pace of play. 5:15 with people in buggies doesn’t feel right.
Kings Course is well designed and maintained
Played at short notice as Forest of Arden closed due to the heavy rains. Very happy as Kings Course was in great condition and every hole was interesting. Pro Shop staff very friendly when we booked in and helped us to pick which course to play. Overall, an excellent last minute backup when Forest of Arden closed! We will definitely return to play again.
Best course I’ve played in the midlands in a long time (and I’ve played all 3 at the belfry recently) .
Greens were smooth/pure and fast . Fairways were in great condition . The layout was a test but very playable .
I’ll be going back to play there a few times this season
Slow play
Walked of the course after 15
5 hours to this point not good and they don’t take cash in the bar
Will probably never go back at a weekend
Condition of the course was excellent if it was poor I probably would have walked off after 9 holes
Good test
Course in great condition for time of year. Only one wet spot near 15th tee, but other than that it was bone dry. Fairways in excellent condition. Greens had been hollow tined but still played well and ran true. Good value rate as well as a late choice and change from our home course
Course as always nice 2 play , both course are great layouts , just not worth the money , and drainage on the courses are not great this time of year very wet
Glad to be back
Played the Kings course after 5 years away.
Course was excellent. Greens were rapid .
As a nomadic golfer we haven't played there for 5 years as it was outside of our budget but at £25 we didn't hesitate. At this price we will definitely return
Well maintained fairways
The fairways were good but groups of players were bunched up on the course.
Great winter course
Played after prolonged period of heavy rain, my course like many were closed. Greens fast and true, fairways in good condition, the only wet ares were in the rough. In my opinion the Kings course is better than the Earls course, better greens and more interesting layout.
Solid golf venue
I’ve played the Warwickshire a number of times on the Earls Course so today chose the Kings instead. It was fun but it’s reputation as the weaker of the two is deserved, there are just a few less memorable holes. That said, it is still above average and certainly worth anyones time to try it out.
Greens on this occasion weren’t up to the usual standard, a little bobbly and slow, which was disappointing.
We also had lunch in the bar which was very good.
One last thing, the Warwickshire as a whole desperately needs another set of tees. For casual players and high handicappers, 6,500+ yards off the yellows is pretty long and can turn the whole thing into a bit of a slog.
Nov 2021 Golf
Disappointing that booking didn’t mention winter wheels & 6 players then had to hire trolleys at £5 each or carry - Kings Course had about 6 soft spots around all 18 holes. Trolleys would have been fine. Hollow tined greens were frankly awful. Played the course today which was challenging with the wind as well as the cold/ poor greens. In hindsight we’d have gone elsewhere & probably had a better day out.
Winter conditions
This is a great layout and a beautiful area to play a round of golf
The weather was dry but cold and windy which made it a challenge in it's self. The course was very wet and muddy in some places and the greens had been heavily treated earlier that week so putting was understandably difficult
However, we were there for the opportunity to play on this outstanding course and play as well as we could despite the conditions and it was a very enjoyable day.
One club more
Brilliant day at the Warwickshire, staff great, course fabulous. Learnt to take one club more after taking one shot more on the front 9 par fours.
Clever holes and a real test of golf
No fairways
Most courses can manage a decent bit of grass at this time of year. Not the Warwickshire though. The rough and what should be a fairway are just the same. It’s impossible to tell where the edge is.
Premium prices for very sub-premium course conditions. Add to this the price hikes at weekends and bank holidays, and the obligatory 5-hour round, and you wonder why anyone plays there.
