Just needs investment
The paths to the holes are just dust tracks and badly signposted causing confusion, especially given the courses cross over. The roughs are very rough, fairways very thin and greens are badly maintaining making them very slow even downhill with no onears roll. Not good value at all. Just a shame the hotel won't spend some time on maintaining it and improving user experience.
Not the best course to play
Should not be open in winter absolutely water logged everywhere you go your feet sink and you can hear the water rushing below your feet on every hole. If the course isn’t good in winter it shouldn’t be opened waste of money in the end
Worst course ever
The pictures on the website made this course look worthwhile driving 45 miles for, on closer reflection had I read the reviews on this course I would have changed my mind.
All I can say is this course was in a diabolical condition, both the fairways and greens had not seen a keeper this season and were in a terrible condition.
The course (if maintained) could be a really nice place to spend 4 hours, need investment and TLC.
Disappointed
On arrival the pro shop closed, one member of staff available to check in golfers and hotel. Bear in mind course was quite wet thought all fairways were difficult and quite rough. Greens pretty good to be fair. But, two massive issues. Could not find 7th or 8th holes due to no signs and confusion of the 18 hole course which runs very close to certain holes of the 9.
The most obvious route we took ended towards the 9th so we missed 2 holes. So thought we would mention this to the club pro but as mentioned the shop was closed. The one member of staff was checking in 6 golfers. So thought we would go into the bar area for coffee and guess? NO staff!!
Overall not a good experience.
Fabulous Layout, Shocking Condition
I feel rather sad writing this, as this course must once have been fantastic. The layout is great, with lots of interesting holes, lots of water, well placed bunkers and mature trees and hedgerows. However, the whole place feels neglected. The greens on the day we played were the worst condition I have ever seen - they would have been disappointing at a seaside pitch and putt. Some hadn't been cut for many days and those that had were shockingly uneven, with clear steps between the mown lines. The tee boxes were ropey, fairways were poorly mown and many areas of the course felt as though they had been abandoned. The signage was minimal and inadequate in places, there were no proper scorecards available, the pro shop seemed to have closed down, there were no staff at the bar and the "Country Club" had the air of a derelict council office. I really hope we simply caught them on a bad day, but I fear that we may see the course close down in the not too distant future unless something changes drastically.
Shocking
Fairways uncut soaked with water absolutely shocking place tried to complain but nothing will never go again
