Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Arkansas (2020 #5)
Reviews
Some Good Attributes But The Course Needs Some Extra Care
I think this course has some potential with the holes carved into the valleys of the hills in NW Arkansas. However, the fairways, rough and bunkers need some help. The greens, the price, the design and the friendliness of the staff are the course’s saving grace.
The fairways and rough are Bermuda grass. They looked very brown, dry, not in good shape and not pleasing to the eye. Severe erosion near the cart paths on hole 5. The bunkers had not had an overall good raking in some time.
We generally play a course at around 6,000 yards but when we saw the slope rating of 135, we decided to play the gold tees. However, this still had a slope of 131. I think the slope of 131 is way too high for this course. The first 3 holes are very easy and then the fairways begin to become a bit narrower, with a lot of slope to them on holes 4 & 5. Overall, it is not a difficult golf course.
The green on hole 6 had a few bad spots. The fairway bunkers on hole 14 were filled with grass/weeds. The par 3, 13th hole has an extremely severe and difficult green. Hole 8 is a beautiful hole.
The good attributes of this course are the greens, the price of $45, the design of the course and the friendliness of the staff, therefore, I would recommend the course. Understanding, it is not a perfect course because of the conditions of the fairways, rough and bunkers.
This Course Is Fun to Play
I've now played here 4 times while visiting family. The course is well maintained and the staff are super friendly and very efficient. The course is moderately difficult for my level of play (4 years playing golf regularly). The greens and fairway are better maintained than my private club in Virginia. The driving range is good with locations for putting practice, pitching practice, and sand bunker practice. I highly recommend the course. Each time I've played -- at different times of the day -- there were a number of golfers. Someone ahead and behind but the pace of play was good.

Course in good shape and pace was very good ! It is worth the swing of the clubs!
Sand traps are in horrible conditions
Greens and fairways are in great shape. We have played there 3 or 4 times in the last 3 months and the sand traps have not been worked all year.
This is suppose to be the premier public course in NWA and the traps should not be in this condition all the time. Great course they just need to fix the traps. Too much money to pay for these conditions.
One of the best in NWA.
Stonebridge Meadows is one of the best public courses in NWA. I play here often and always experience something new each day. The greens are quick and always well kept. They have some slope to them, which add to the challenge. Overall, this is a very good course to play.
Challenging course
May need to play a couple rounds on this course to develope some local knowledge Some of the greens are a bit tricky.
The bad the good and ugly
The bad. Perhaps it was just the group we were behind but seriously 5+ hours. They need a Marshall at this place. I m at 25 hdcp and I constantly was waiting to hit. Ugh. So frustrating. And $53 was a little steep for weekend rate. At home weekend rate never a tops $40.
The good. Sick greens!!!! Fairways were pretty nice too. Staff and patrons wee very friendly to this out of owner.
The ugly. Pick up garbage folks. Water bottles coke cans broken tees. The place could easily been a lot nicer. Oh and clean a griggin bathroom
Great track
Always a good test for your skills. Sand(?) traps were in terrible condition but admitedly big rains earlier in week had washed them out. Thre were about 10% of the traps fixed. Some had visable rocks that made you worry about your shots in repaired traps. The greens were soft and slow but Late July calls for that. As an old pro told me often-you shouldn't be in the trap anyway. Overall the best course southern Washington county.
Great course
Fantastic course. Great lay out.
Poor staff cart person showed up when we were on hole 18.
