Canyons Golf Course

About
Canyons Golf Course has a scenic location surrounded by both the Wasatch and Uinta mountain ranges. The course sits at the center of Canyons Resort, which serves as a ski resort in the winter. The course takes advantage of the dramatic landscape with six holes that are intermingled with skiable terrain. From each of the course's elevated tees you'll enjoy stunning mountain views to accompany the challenging design. The hilly golf course features more than 550 feet of elevation change. The most intimidating height comes on the 10th hole, which has a 297-foot elevation change from tee to green. Strategically placed bunkers complement the contours of the layout and there are also water hazards coming into play on several holes. Canyons Golf Course's 18th is the most memorable water hole with an island green encircled by the Willow Draw Stream.

You will only play once
While traveling I like to use golf advisor for information for courses in the areas that I’m traveling too. Unfortunately the reviews were not up to date. We were staying pretty close to this course, so seeing a few holes when driving by I was excited to play the course. I will start by saying the course is very quirky. It’s lay-out has seven par 3’s, six par 4’s and five par 5’s which was fine, but some of the holes had blind spots and it is basically wrapped around a mountain. The greens are very unfair. Way to many undulations. It would be so much better if the greens were falter. I had asked on several holes, where are the clowns mouths. The course is in good shape and many beautiful views. Only complaint were the greens were beat up, but it is a resort course and so many people don’t repair there divots
Fun and beautiful but difficult and a bit gimmicky
This course is a lot of fun and I'd recommend it to just about anybody. For an intermediate golfer like myself, it was difficult and I lost a handful of balls. The positives are a really well-maintained course with maybe the most unique course layout I've seen. Nearly every hole has a gorgeous view either from the mountains down to the valley or with the mountains as a backdrop. I think the designer did a good job considering the course was likely an afterthought...it's sandwiched between chair lifts and luxury condominium communities. The negatives are its unique layout also means it's pretty awkward. The turn from 9 to 10 occurs at just about the farthest point from the "clubhouse." Parentheses because there's no actual clubhouse. There's a pro shop sandwiched between retail shops of the ski resort where you can pick up some things and pay for your round. My least favorite part of the course is the lack of a driving range. They set up two adjacent pads hitting into nets so you can warm up but that's all you're doing is warming up because you can't see how you're hitting them. Also, don't wash your car beforehand because the parking lot and road leading up are dirt and dusty.
A waste of time and money
Pace of play was miserable, Twice we called to request a marshal to speak to the groups in front of us to quit taking multiple mulligans, taking five minutes to look for lost golf balls, and five putting on greens. Two members of the foursome in front of us pulled beers from their bags on about half the holes, the other two, a man and woman, shared one set of clubs. Two phones calls to Justin in the pro shop were for naught, he told us over five hours was normal. One in the group behind us had on a faded t-shirt, advertising a bar. Twice he hit into my wife, once flying the ball over head. A marshal should have been sent by Justin to have the conversation with him, not me. The course has no respect for the game of golf, they are only interested in collecting green fees. DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE, Park City Muni is much better.
Not worth $100
There are better options in the Park City area.
$100 per player gets you no driving range, no short game practice area, no beverage amenities other than a shack at the 5th hole, no ice for the cart cooler, no cart GPS, no pro shop.
The course is an afterthought addition to the resort.
Cart path is paved and dirt. Weaving in and out of vehicle traffic.
Really overpriced and not worth a visit.
Beautiful Scenery
The scenery is outstanding. The layout of the course is above average, fitting well into the natural terrain. The greens kept my rating from being 4 stars. The greens were very hard, not holding approach shots well. Wedges struck well would roll 15 to 20 feet after landing. The undulations and multi-tiers of the greens were too difficult for the average golfer.
Marshaling would assist in making the play and pace of play more enjoyable. The foursome of men in front of us had a clear hole ahead of them multiple times, but refused to allow us to play through or made not attempt to pick up pace of play. One member of the foursome, even though two foursomes were waiting on the tee box insisted upon practice putting if he missed a putt. (Breach of Rule 5.6)
Absolutely beautiful
Beautiful course with a challenging layout. We were immediately met with a cart in the parking lot. Then we were given tips about the course and layout since it was our first time there. Beautiful scenery throughout the entire course. Only hiccup we had was the sprinklers were turned on when we got to the 10th hole.

Great fun
A mountain golf course that is very doable for an average player . Beautiful views from every hole.
Construction
So much construction going on surrounding the course. Very tricky/tight layout with many blind shots. Wet complicated green complexes. Decent views but feel the course is a couple years away.
Spectacular Views - Challenging Layout
Canyons has two holes where the mountain top view is so dramatic - 350 ft. drop from the black tees. Don't let the 6000 yd black tee fool you. Plenty long - and impossible to finish round with same ball you started with. Fabulous conditions, strategic bunkers, and this course cannot be walked!
Fun golf at canyons
This is a fun course that is built next to ski runs, lots of elevation changes, don’t even think about walking this course! Loved all the staff.
Great Views
Course was in great shape. A great variety of holes. Scenic views on all of the first 10 holes. Target golf and lots of long putts!
Beautiful course, stunning views, hard to score
Great views, beautiful course and well maintained. There is no driving range and the fairways are super tight given the limited real estate available. Overall really enjoyed the scenery, just don't expect to find the course forgiving
Views and setting are best in Park City
The course is narrow since it's competing with valuable ski real estate. The dramatic vistas and tee box views are some of the best in the State. Course lacks a range or chipping area, otherwise an amazing experience. Weather changed quickly, so only completed 9 holes. Staff was great.
Amazing View
Love this course. Great elevation change and the view was the best part. Course is well maintained. Highly recommend.
Really challenging
Awsome elevated tees. Especially on the front side, as well as hole #10. Greens putt true. If you hit the greens on the top shelf and your going down hill, its impossible to keep ball on the green.
