Good day to walk
Have played the course quite a few times the last year, course conditions have improved as the greens are in much better condition and fairways are growing in some. Pace of play tends to slow down and some players could use some golf etiquette lessons. Do enjoy playing the course and is a little challenge walking the back nine.
Jan 2018
Quick update
Still same winter conditions but greens are struggling
December 17
Most of course is dormant
Greens are firm and running quick but have areas where they are less than ideal
Interesting layout.
The front nine has three par threes and the back nine has three par fives. It’s an interesting layout. They need more sand in the traps and a few greens need some work. What I liked most was if you hit your ball in the fairway, it rolled a ways.
Nice course and good challenges.
The greens were in much better shape today so a definite improvement. The rest of the course features were very well taken care of and not too crowded for middle week play. This course has everything you need to have a good challenging round and good practice range. Carts are nice and quick and clubhouse and restaurant have good assortment of food and golf items.
Review
Course is in good condition except for some of the greens. Looks like there was a fungus for over watering which effects your putting line.
October 17
There were a few greens with some serious damage from disease. Overall still solid conditions on the rest of the course and fun to play as always.
Greens are horrible
We play at Riverside about 20 times a year.
The green are horrible. Very bumpy and looks like it was damaged in the summer heat and maybe some kind of fungus. We enjoy the course but will not go back until they are fully repaired.
Great Experience!
We always enjoy ourselves at Riverside. They treat you like family and have great fairways.
Super slow play today...
Date : Saturday 9/16/17 at noon. Got there an hour early before tee time to gets some warm up practice and saw all kinds of youths dressed up in team color outfits along with many adults. Went into clubhouse get cart and was told there are none available due to tournament and need to wait. Ok, no problem I was there early anyways. Go practice and come back 15min before tee time and still no carts. They told me they will let me know when my tee time is announced to come get cart. So I go in when announced and no cart still. I wait inside where its nice and cool and about 10 min later a cart is available. So I sign in and am told to put my email address as well. I don't usually give out but since it's Riverside, ok no problem. So I tee off with 3 other guys. From there were playing up to 5th hole and about 2 hours have gone by because were sitting around waiting for the train of players in front of us that eventually bottlenecked where 2 or 3 groups with way too many players and carts were in line teeing off. The rest of the story speaks for itself and I just left and went home. Also the practice greens and some of the greens on some holes were in really bad shape, so making a good putt was impossible depending where your ball landed. The practice range didn't have any distance indicators or maybe I just didn't see them out there. So that was kind of strange. I hadn't played here for few months and never seen it this bad. I was told that Riverside usually don't have tournaments on weekends or in the afternoons but for some reason, they were allowed to happen on today. Needless to say, Iv'e always like this course but I think I'll just keep playing elsewhere from now on. On the plus side the new yamaha carts are nice and comfortable and fast so sitting around wasn't to hard on the behind nor driving over rough terrain so give them a A+ for that. Not sure whats going on there at Riverside but it definitely isn't what I remember when I played there a few months ago. I may try again in a couple months to see if things have changed but for now its just okay to play for now, just call and make sure there are not back to back tournaments especially on weekends.
Fungus on greens.
Riverside is usually in excellent condition, however this time some of the greens were in very bad shape. Fungus got into them from over watering. It's going to take a while before they back in shape.
Best bang for your buck
Best price in the valley. Course was in good shape. Not the best it has been. A few of the greens were in pretty bad shape but understandable with all the heat. Would definitely play again though
some great holes
holes 10-11-12 are the best different types of golf holes i have every play here in kings tulare and freso county
Great layout
Very great golf course. Very well maintained and you definitely use every club in the bag. Had a great time with son!
Very nice course
Very nice course, well tooken care of good food also .
It's a great shape!!
Greens are in fairly decent shape, ball was rolling true.. Fair ways are nice and green! You can't beat playing a course like this for 15 bucks! I'd play it again!
Spring 2017
Course architecture fans rejoice! Fresno has a Billy Bell design that will delight. Those that know the Bells (William P. and William F.) know that their work is prolific and lists some of the best courses in California. For those that don't, I encourage an internet search on the two of them. Unlike many modern architects whom simply seek to punish and mistakenly equate hard with good, the brilliance in Bell's designs is in the playability for all levels, while still presenting a challenge for better players with angles/small greens/bunkering.
Overall - 4, great design, course conditions are currently very good and hence the 4 stars.
Pace - 2, the habit of overbooking and squeezing in walk-ups has resulted in consistent backups and even with a morning tee time we were 25 minutes behind schedule to even begin our round. Finished in 5 hours.
Course is very challenging
Putting green good driving range good cafe shop good green's excellent all around excellent will recommend any one
Lookin good!!
Good shape for this time of the year considering the drought and being 100°F
