Good course for the cost
Enjoy playing the course. Friend playing here for the first time says we'll have to play the Frog again. Fairways in ok condition, but they could use some work. Will come back again if offered GolfNow value price. I'd say this is a good $30ish course but wouldn't want to play more.
Great golf course
If ever I go back to Atlanta I will 100% play The Frog again. The layout was superb and it was so quiet and still. The greens had recently been punched but they were still playable. All in all a great course and one that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
The Georgian “The Frog” is a premiere golf course that I’ve played dozens of times and has always been know for immaculate conditions. I played last Friday and although I know winter months are always tough on a course I was truly sad and shock to see a course I love and played so much on look in such bad shape. All the fairway and green side bunkers had no sand and lots of weeds green side not tented to. Tee boxes were okay shape but the course always use to overseer them with rye in the winter and this wasn’t the case. The cost to play this course was extremely high and over priced for very disappointing conditions and I hate to see this play go downhill!
Great Course
Great challenging course. Some fairway bunkers need work. New owners seem to be making progress. Not as good as it was 5 years ago but I’ll be playing it more.
Unfortunate decline
I know this course has been through its ups and downs throughout the years, but was very disappointed to see how far it’s digressed. Seems that outside of cutting the greens, there’s not much additional maintenance that exists throughout the course. I’ll attribute this to lack of funding, as it seems it’s just in a mode of keeping the lights on. Hope it finds a way to get back to its old self.
Should have played elsewhere for the price...
The Frog once was a great course, but has steadily declined over the past several years. The cart path has some serious concrete issues that need to be addressed. The staff was friendlier than previous visits to this course so that is a plus! Me and my guys couldn't get a tee time at my home course due to frost so we opted to play The Frog since it had a tee time before noon. The cost is about $20 higher than it should be for this course. The bunkers are pathetic and some don't even have sand in them. Tee boxes are OK as are the greens and fairways, but no where near as good as they were 3-5 years ago. Best part of the round was the EZGo Elite electric golf carts. Every golf course should get these carts.
After Reading Reviews: Much Better!
After reading GolfNow reviews, was going to skip this course. After talking to a local, decided to give it a shot. Glad I did! By far the best course I played in the area for the week. Great condition (even for winter), nice layout, excellent pace-of-play. Wonderful staff. I can see why Golf magazine rated this as a top course in the state.
Froggy still good.
Have not played here in 10 years. I have always liked the layout. Fairways and tees dormant and some wet areas in low spots. Greens were solid and rolled well. Diabolical pin placement on 9. :) People please fix your ballmarks and fill your divots. Its not that difficult. For early Feb the course was in decent shape. I hope to be back again later this year when it greens up.
Been awhile
Haven't played here in a few years. The course was in good shape for the time of year. One green had a lot of ball marks but others were good. The waste bunkers/areas look like they have not been maintained but regular bunkers were ok. Little pricey for the product but a good value with hotdeal
This course is very player friendly
We played this course a couple of days after a snowstorm . It is cart path only which made it a little harder for an old man. It was a fun and enjoyable day , lots of wildlife.
NEW YEAR ROUND
It was great to get out on a cold sunny day 46 degrees. Course and greens were in great shape considering it is January. I can't wait to come back in the spring.
The Frog 2025
The condition of the course has really gone down in the last 5 years. It had a great reputation for a long time but the course looks nothing like the pictures. The bunkers are in horrible condition.
The Faxio layout is great but someone dropped the ball on maintaining the course. It is so sad.
Play it at a discount if you can
Starting this review off by stating the obvious for those that have played in the past or play this course now. The Frog definitely isn’t what it used to be condition wise. The fairways were cut and the greens were solid. However, the areas off the fairway and bunkers need some serious attention. Bunkers are full of weeds. The fairway bunker on #10 (pictured) was half full of water. I understand rain happens but we hadnt seen rain for a couple of days prior. There were quite a few bunkers that could use more attention than what they appeared to be receiving. I don’t expect winter golf to be spring golf but man for 65-70 dollars a round I really wish they would get the conditions back to somewhat respectable. It is kind of embarrassing that they would be ok with how the conditions are at the moment.
No premade lunch items at the grill so make sure to call ahead after hole 8.
Pace of play was decent but we did get sort of backed up on around hole 13 or 14. Group of 5 ahead of us playing in hoodies, jeans, and work boots,
It really is sad what this place has become. C’mon Frog get it together..
Not worth the money or time.
Played this corse several years ago, it was amazingly nice. This time , the sand bunkers were awful and not kept up , nobody is raking the sand behind them , leaves all over the fairway’s , very hard to find your ball in the fairway , nobody is fixing ball divots on the greens, greens were awful. Very run down and not kept up. I was very disappointed. Also it was cart path only. Drain covers were off the drain’s in the fairway and on the cart paths. Only played the first nine holes. So slow with cart path only and people walking.
Not worth the money!
Course has a good layout but it is in extremely poor condition.
Greens are covered in dead spots and divots. Bunkers are overgrown with weeds and dead grass. Fairways are ok.
There are much better courses close by for less money. West pines and mirror lake are both less and in great condition.
The bunkers could be alot better especially since they are so many they should look nice and raked but that's my only complaint
