Candlewood is Good!
Like this place! The course has a good mix of different hole layouts and you can even go for most of the round without using your driver if you want to. Although it’s a relatively flat course which should make it good for walking, some of the holes are spread out so the walk from green to tee box can be long (but not ridiculous).
Clubhouse bar was empty and TVs off on a Saturday but the outside food truck setup is A+. Saw the beverage cart 3x on the morning, too!
Very Nice Staff
Staff were very accommodating. I had my 5 year old with me who is starting to learn - staff, ranger and starter were all super nice and a provided a positive experience for a youngster to stay interested in the sport.
Only quip was that the group ahead of us was painfully slow and the ranger could have been a bit more assertive with moving them along. The course was fairly welp maintained minus a few spots with some flooding on the cart path although we played the day after some heavy rains.
All in all a nice course and fair deal for the price.
Candlewood second time around
Great place friendly staff. Nice amenities. When in candlewood this course is a must play !!!
Golf at the lake
Great spot friendly staff and great cart service. A must play if your at the lake !!!
Candlewoo Valley Memorial Day weekend
Great place friendly staff and courteous players. They may had a lot of extras available. Cart girl was on point. Had a real good time there the only exception was my score !! Great course will return.

Quirky but I loved it
First time playing the course . It was a bit quirky and by that I mean a few blind shots, very tight in certain areas and the course layout didn’t match the app I was using. Other than that, I still felt it was a good course. Greens were all healthy and fairways lush. Some of the tee boxes were a bit beat up but mostly fine.
Every hole was an adventure…. You used every club in your bag. I only two criticism, please update the new layout/par allocation on the different apps (especially “GameBook”). Also we weren’t allowed to warm up in the practice area. We were told it was only for lessons. That was kinda upsetting. We drove an hour to get there for a skins game, and the site didn’t mention that.
Special shout out to Liliana and Alexis at the Bar. They were awesome , definitely placed a pleasant face on the establishment. We will be back . 👏🏽
Wet N Wild
The course is in a beautiful spot, but water retention is a serious problem. We had some modest rain the day before but there was significant mud, heavy ruts and large puddles along the cart path and in the fairways. Greens were in great shape and reasonably challenging. They had removed almost all leaves from the grounds, which was nice. I look forward to coming back next summer when the ground is firm/dry.
Candlewood Valley
Layout of the course was very nice but extremely wet and soggy mud was everywhere and I’m not sure how much rain this area has had but the cart paths were full of water just extremely extremely wet. Very nice layout and had some interesting holes just wish it wasn’t so wet. The greens were very interesting, and had lots of subtle undulations, and we’re not very easy to put on but I come back probably but not at the price that I paid for the course conditions that we had
Enjoy playing here regularly
Pros: course layout/maintenance, friendly staff/golfers, scenery, value, overall always a positive experience
Cons: few holes have good amount of water (it just rained a ton, not much you can do about it), very popular and can be busy, common unfixed ball marks/divots, not much to complain about really.
One of my favorite courses to play within a radius of 45min from Danbury for the value, convenience and course itself. I regularly shoot in the 100’s and just have fun out there so don’t listen to the snobby low-handicappers complaining that a $60 course isn’t PGA quality
Need to improve drainage of the course
Fully understand that we had lots of rain. But, serious drainage issues and the employee told us to drive thru the many puddles on the cart path. Will not play this course until drainage issues are resolved. I would recommend this course but I am not sure anymore.
Excellent no-frills CT golf!
Very enjoyable round, course was in very good condition - fairways were well-groomed, greens in excellent shape. Good mix of challenging and straightforward holes, accuracy and knowing your club distances is key. According to my playing partner's Apple watch, it was a 7-mile walk including the cart paths - relatively flat compared to other CT courses, good workout for a balmy Monday.
