Surprising public course in north georgia
I played this course because it had appeared on the GolfPass Best of Georgia list in 2023. I got the senior deal they have on Mondays and Thursdays. It is a short course with the tips only being 6019 yards. It makes up for that with lots of dogleg holes, bunkers in the fairway and water features like creeks forcing you to hit a shorter club to a specific spot. The greens were firm and very fast. I had several foursomes ahead of me but they let me, a single, play through. Being a mountain course with lots of trees, there were several tee boxes that were closed or needed resodding but the fairways and greens were mostly in good shape. The staff were very nice. The food is very limited hence the 2 stars. Only a hot dog warmer, rack of chips and candy and a two drink refrigerators. With limited food and beverage options they really should allow outside coolers. BTW, after 51 years of golf I finally got my first eagle on the par 4 12th with a 103 yd PW!!
Fun.
Loved the views an the lay out of course could really enjoy playing ever day very layed back
Solid North Georgia Mountain Course
Overall, it was a very good experience. Conditions were fine for a February round - course had heavy rain recently and was cart path only. The course makes great use of the hilly / mountainous terrain and has large elevation changes. The of the creek on the back 9 created several unique / strategic golf holes. White Path is part of a sub-division; however, the homes are for the most part well back from the golf holes.
The only negatives about the course I have, is that several back tees had been abandoned and at all of the street crossings, the cart tunnels had been abandoned / partially filled in and required the golfer to directly cross the road. This was not a problem for an early morning off-season round; however, I wonder it this is the case during peak season golf.
Worth every penny
I played out here with my two brothers on Sunday at 9am. Paid $45 and was worth every cent. The tee boxes were in fair shape. Greens were rolling true and very well cared for. The views here are spectacular. You don’t only come for the golf, you have to see the views!!! Come check this course out! We played in 3 hours 10 mins. Was a true gem.
Too early in the year
Course fairway was still dormant in February. Course is similar to a municipal course in quality. There are some fun holes, but a little rough in areas.
Tricky but fun
Very short course. Crazy dog legs, definitely need to play the course a couple of times before actually being able to score. A couple of very tricky sharp dog legs. I am 16 and only pulled out driver once. Very fun course. Would recommend for anyone. Friendly staff and great food!
Nice, but...
This course could be a nice little course. It's pretty short for the most part. First time playing it, now I realize that you cannot hit a driver on a lot of holes. The greens were recently punched and sanded, so we really had no idea where the putts were going to end up. That was frustrating and wish they would have mentioned that before we booked, or at least offered a discount. The greens are small, but pretty flat. The tee boxes need work. Many seemed like they had no watering system to them. Some were complete dirt. This could be a nice course in mid summer when the fairways and greens grow in. There was no beverage cart, but the staff in the pro shop was nice. I believe you can bring your own refreshments on the course. I'm sure I will give it another chance in a month or two and see how their crew attends to the course.
Classic Mountain Golf
Once you get there (don't trust Apple Maps) and wait out the frost delay (started after noon for a 10 AM tee time), had fun a typical mountain course. Short, lots of elevation changes, decent shape although very wet. Beautiful views, lots of creeks. Will try again in summer or fall.
No water on course, no restrooms (a couple Port-A-Johns), no rakes in bunkers (??), no beer sold (???), and you don't return to the clubhouse after #9.
While course is listed on GolfNow, it's apparently never had a tee time there.
Overall enjoyed it!
Typical mountain course. Fairways and greens in good shape but tee boxes do need work which they are trying to fix. They are some temporary tee boxes while they sod. You more than likely will have to yell fore at the deer and turkey you'll see on the course. Overall a good value and a good round.
Elevation change is amazing
the first tee will take your breath away as you are standing 100 feet above the fairway. Great course overall
Careful with carts
The hills are steep so be patient and go slow, especially when wet. Don't be overly aggressive off the tee on some of the holes like number 10.
Coming along nicely!
This is my hometown course, but I have not played it again until recently due to poor conditions. The conditions are much improved now. As they are continuing to make repairs and adjustments from the previous management, there are several tee boxes that are being resown and therefore the tees are somewhat spotty at best. Greens are rolling well and the fairways are lush and green. Recent heavy rains have some places still damp but the course is very playable.
Lot's of potential
Unfortinately, we were caught in the midst of several strong rains passing through the areas. If it's raining, or been raining, be aware that the greens don't appear to drain well. Overall the course was average. Most of the tee boxes were in terrible shape. Some were even closed while they tried to get the sod to grow. Some sand traps were in rough shape...but could be easily brought back to par. Greens were appeard to be in good shape...but didn't appear to drain well. The course offers great views of the mountains, elevation changes, wildlife, and is secluded in a housing development with holes winding throughout the grounds. The course is pretty straight foward and if I played it again I wouldn't hit many drivers off the tee. Fun course and will be back...just hope they realize the potential of this course and fix the problem areas.
Wet, Wet, Wet
For the course.....it's a gem, although much easier than it appears, with exclusion of 15. Several of the tees are in really poor condition and you hit off a mat on one hole. In light of the course owners several tee boxes are under repair. It has been raining in northern Georgia for two weeks and the much needed rain actually beautified a course that is most likely burned out this time of year. I did not see any place to get food, drinks or much of anything at the clubhouse. Almost every hole is down hill making it a fairly easy course...you will not walk this one! Well worth the $$ and it's the only course near Ellijay so you really do not have a choice.
Hidden in the mountains
I love this course even though it's very narrow. The only things that I would like to see changed: you need to have water on the course. Most courses you arent allowed to bring a cooler, here it is encouraged. You better have your own cooler here if it gets above 80, or you will be in trouble.
Many of the.Tee boxes were in terrible shape. I did notice that they are redooing some of the boxes on the back 9. Hopefully they will redo all of them.
Greens were in best shape I've ever seen them.
Nice, short, narrow course!
This overall is a nice course that makes you hit it straight or be penalized. Short course overall with small greens that are protected by good sand traps. The worst part of course was tee boxes. Most had little grass.
No competition
There are few courses in this area. The tee boxes were all but gone, I.e. no grass. The fairways were just okay. The greens were very good. Very nice staff. Mostly a fair course. Hit it straight.
Challenge
We go down to Ellijay every year, and this is the first course we play. Very tight and challenging greens. If the course was a little more maintained it could be an excellent course. Make sure to bring a ton of balls. Can't wait to play it again next year.
Great Mountain Course
We recently played Whitepath CC while on vacation in the Blue Ridge area. The course layout is unreal, elevated tee boxes, scenic views and a great value at $30 during the week. The greens and fairways were in great shape, several of the tee boxes were a little rough but the course is a true gem.
I look forward to playing another round at Whitepath CC.
Maybe the commenter simply disagreed with the evaluation, perhaps thinking it was someone unrealistically praising the course.
Why did someone not like this?
