Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine

About
Chicopee Woods Golf Course is a public, 27-hole layout in Gainesville. The course is tucked amongst the Appalachian foothills, giving it a scenic terrain of rolling hills. The holes are divided into three nines: the Village, the Mill, and the School, that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. Five sets of tees provide even more variety. The Village nine is the longest of the three and it's also the driest. There is only a small lake beside the second hole. That doesn't mean the golf course isn't challenging though, you'll still face several strategically placed bunkers. There are a few scattered trees but the course is mostly open and offers some room for error. In addition to the 27 holes, Chicopee Woods G.C. also has a driving range and chipping and putting greens.

Unfriendly starter.
Manager should train the starter how to treat customers friendly way!
Always a pleasure playing here
Even though I live much closer to numerous golf courses, this place is always my go to. Staff are amazing and always friendly. The cook and guy who runs the snack bar is awesome as well!! We had a pace of play issue due to two groups joining up together on the 2nd hole and called the pro shop and they came out and handled it very promptly. Not sure how they can stripe the fairways that well when the grass is dormant but they’ve figured out how to do it. Greens roll very well and true to your line. The diversity of the holes here is incredible and they’re all kept in very good shape year round. This place is always packed for a reason, they do everything right.
Slow Play
Over 4 hours to complete 18 holes. Waiting on every hole for slow group ahead. No Marshals to enforce speed of play.

Same review as always.
Nice course. Good shape. Challenging. HOWEVER, pace of play always slow as course management stacks tee time TOO close!! It should be about the golfers experience first and foremost secondary to making more money. And, this is not a one day issue. It’s anytime you play here. Unfortunate, as such a nice course and, remedy is two folded. Widen tee time spread. Add a marshal who actually does something about pace of play. Needs no capital expenditure.
Course was nice
The course was nice, but they had tractors working on it. I understand about working on the course, but this was a busy day, and one of the holes blew leaves from one side of the fairway to the other. We couldn't find the balls that we hit in the fairway. I just thought they would either lower the fees for the day or at least work more intelligently on the course.
Great layout and fun to play!!
Great course, staff and amenities!! I’ll definitely play it again when it’s all green, being this time of year course was still in great shape!!
Great public course with 27 Holes
The bad - we went on Christmas Eve, so it was crowded and they had a morning frost delay, so tee times were pushed back.
The good - the staff handled the delays very well! Jimmy the starter was on top of things with timely information, so we went to the top-of-the-line practice facility and hit balls for about an hour. Once on the course, we MOVED! I thought we were gonna be waiting forever at tee boxes. Nope! Pace of play was awesome.
The great - the practice facility. Wow!! Plenty of spots at the range, and they have a separate chipping green, a sand green, and a putting green, all with a nearby snack bar and sitting areas. It’s impressive.
We’ll definitely be back to play all three 9s.
