Always a good time golfing
Their practice area is outstanding. Can spend many hours to hone in your game. Always a pleasure to play there. Due to drought the ground was hard.
Fabulous Greens
I cannot think of a single issue on any green on the course. Amazing.
If you want to ruin your weekend look no further!
Staff was rude, condescending, and incompetent. Got yelled at because the lady thought I had 15 in my group but we only had 4?? Was freaking out and couldn’t work the cash register. Course was cart path only even though course was dry. Course was Very unkept and couldn’t drive carts in parking lot?? Overall horrible experience from the beginning.
Overbearing / unnervingly penetrating / exasperatingly loud and highly inaccurate positioning, satellite controlled golf carts!
I have played the Highland Walk numerous times since 2019 and possess a Golf Pass, albeit not a membership.
The staff is always respectful and will try to help in any way possible; on this day the attendant allowed that I could start early as the next group was still waiting for their fourth player to arrive. At the first tee there was a very accommodating starter/marshal who recorded my particulars and issued course instructions; subsequently was observed interacting with foursomes, possibly maintaining pace-of-play protocol’s. The tee’s, fairways, bunkers and green’s were in good shape. As a septuagenarian veteran, and continuously improving high handicap golfer; as well, the profoundly challenging yet beautiful hills, valleys and gorges; it must be noted the at times volatile and inaccurate interdiction, the golf carts alarm, warning and remedying system, is profoundly overbearing, intimidating, alarmingly loud and profusely inaccurate as to the cart positioning and the out-of-bounds it’s intended to protect. You could be on the cart path, or as in one instance, while following the instructions to enter fairway 80 yards past where my ball crossed the ravine, yet in the fairway and doing as instructed, as I circled back to my ball on it’s high side (10 yards away from out-of-bounds) in the fairway, the cart shuts off and instructs it remedy to reversing a very long distance away from ball and back near the cart path (dangerous in itself). All the while, unnerved, I’m hollering at the system that I’m not in a restricted area, I entered fairway where instructed and as always follow protocols. For this or other senior golfers a session or round of golf can and should be cathartic and enjoyable; and as this course is not walkable for most golfers, the golf carts should not be a bastion, undermining all thing’s good about the playing the game!
Course is in great shape
This state park golf course is challenging, and in great shape. The cost is very reasonable, and the staff is very friendly.
Most holes have wide fairways for your tee shots. Some holes are hilly and you have a couple of blind approach shots. It is important to find the best place to "miss" on the tough holes in order to score.
I was pleasantly surprised with this course. It is getting harder to find good courses that don't charge an arm and a leg these days in the metro area. The drive is not bad.
Pretty challenging from the tips... lots of blind flags to shoot at due to terrain change. Wonderful greens. Plays longer than listed.
Very nice course & affordable
Tee box & greens were very nice. Up keep was done very well. You can’t beat $40 to play this course. Great course for average golfer…
I am Torn! My Overall Actual rating would be 3.8
Everyone was super friendly! So the rating is not about people and staff; I rated them 5 stars. The maintenance of the course and the greens are 4.5 in my opinion. The value is better than average as well. Under $40 M-Th and I played on Golf Now deal at 11am on Thursday for even less than that. The pace of play was definitely slow! Plus you cannot see to the next hole in most situations so it feels like you are all by yourself but then you run into a group in front and you can get thru because they tell you there are groups ahead of them. The amount of blind shots and "tricked up" hole layouts was a bit frustrating for the first time seeing the course. The smart carts were too smart for their own good. Too many times it cut off and made me reverse and I was literally on the cart path and I could see the groups in front of me having the same issue. A few times it cut off saying 90 degree rule; even though I was in compliance. You cant get too close to the woods as that is restricted as well. I understand the intent and I think those things can be tweaked but the cart was a part of the story. So I am torn! I played this while out of town on business, if this course was near my home and $35 or less I would take the time to play it regularly and let my perceptions of quirks work themselves thru because it was in great shape and the people were very friendly.
Highland Walk
The coarse was in good shape. Carts were good and the staff was friendly. The only complaint I had was it had not rained in four days and it was cart path only. While I completely understand if the coarse is wet and or soft but we did not find any area that was the least bit soft or wet. Very hilly course which made the walking difficult. We will check in the future before going to the coarse.
Great experience
It started with a very friendly staff. Then the golf course was in great shape. Greens were smooth and tricky. Fairways were clean and smooth. Curse played very fair. Had such a great time we played another 18 holes and it was just as fun. Will continue to play this course as well as the other Georgia park courses. Thank you!!
