Great golf course with a fun, challenging layout. Great mix of lengths for Par 3's and Par 5's. Greens were fast and firm with the Dormant Bermuda. Well worth the rates-would come back in a heartbeat. Only negative would be this is a course owned by GSU, no beer sold on the golf course.
Wonderful Test for All Golfers
As a student of Georgia Southern University, I am partial to this course, however I believe everyone should play this course. For me as a student, it is 10 dollars to walk. It is a touch pricey for the area for the general public, but I believe it is still worth it.
Voted as one of Golf Digest's Best New Courses of 2014, it lives up to that accolade 3 years later. One of the best kept courses, the grounds crew does a wonderful job keeping this course in pristine shape.
As for the design of the course, it is an interesting layout. The front nine is just over 3300 yards from the back tees (appropriately the blue tees), calling for precision and accurate shot placement rather than distance. The back nine however opens up and stretches out to just under 3600 yards, with more open fairways and more emphasis placed on longer approaches.
This course is great for walking, as it is flat all around, and there is never more than 50 yards between a green and the next tee (with the exception of 9 to 10). One thing to note about the golf course is that since it is University property, it is an alcohol free course, so it is not your place if you like to have a cold one or two during your round. However, I encourage everyone to overlook this one small thing and venture to Statesboro to check out this awesome tract!
