Course Ruined By Massive Tree Cutting Project

I wrote a previous review on how nice this course was. Now I must write one on how it has been ruined by a massive tree cutting project. The beauty of the course is totally gone and instead of old growth pine trees lining the fairways, it is now a barren landscape of ugliness. I don't know whose idea this was or who actually decided to cut so many trees down, but this is what happens when you have people who don't know what they're doing making decisions. Thinning out the trees and cutting down trees that were causing turf problems? Fine. The problem is whole groves of trees that were obviously causing zero problems were cut down. I am heartbroken that this was done to one of my favorite courses and I don't think I can ever bring myself to ever play there again. A real, real shame.

Nice course

I make a point to play this course 2-3 times a year, even though I live about 90 minutes away. I enjoy the country drive and getting away for the day. This is an old-style course among the pine trees with a good variety of holes. The greens are generally in good shape, but the day of this review, they were very good. Most people will consider this a fun course to play, not a great one, but good enough. And as an inside tip, although this course is just 25 minutes south of the loop around Augusta, during Masters week it doesn't charge more to play like the other courses in Augusta do.
