Really fun par 3
I love this little course. The holes are challenging and the views are spectacular.
Very friendly staff, but course and facilities and course pretty much garbage
This is a review for the executive course. This is the kind of course where you expect to see players wearing tank tops, cut off jeans and bare feet. The description says its a Robert Trent Jones designed course, which is such a shame considering what a mess it is. There is some nice elevation to the layout. Definitely not worth $55 even with cart. The cart - I was warned that sometimes the gas doesn't work and have to pull the pedal back with your foot to make it run again. Plus I rented clubs - the SW and putter had the outer rubber stripped off it. It was just so comically bad. Driving range had nice mats, but the facility was worse than your local pitch and putt. The worst part of the day by far, though, was the course condition. I think these kinds of executive courses don't really expect you to play from the "fairway" but there is just a lot of patchy crabgrass around and around the green. The green and the "fringe" are essentially the same cut of grass - the only thing separating the green and the fringe is a line they cut into it with a string trimmer. Literally as slow as a shag carpet.
Shame on me for not taking some of the other online reviews more seriously. The bigger shame is to see a course with potential falling into such disarray. Save your money.
Not worth the money
I would not play here again. Poor value for the money. Course was very busy and frustrating . Poor fairways and greens very slow.
Surprisingly
I just being in paradise the layout and course would be nice , I guess when I went to driving range an saw nothing but brown dirt range thru me , the cart paths on the par 3 were dirt and the Tee boxes were rough but the overall experience was good,
Nice Scenic Par 3 Course !
Nice Scenic , but they were very busy and condition was muddy.
Rude staff, cool course
The exec course is pretty fun; lots of variety.
Staff ruined the experience. I called weeks ahead and asked if military members who live in Hawaii can get the Hawaii rate, and was told definitely. I went on memorial day and the guy told me they weren't anymore. I politely said thank you and to have a great day and the guy silently ignored me and gave a rude look.
Then on hole 6, they turned the sprinklers on the tee box and I got soaked and my bag and phone got soaked. Then on hole 12 they told me to hurry off the green so they could turn those on as well. Then I left my rangefinder on a tee box and went back literally 90 seconds later and some greens keeper had taken it. He gave it back later.
Otherwise a really great par 3 course, but the staff treat you like an inconvenience. Which is weird bc it's business based on recreation.
First Timers
First time booking the course. Paid $20 online in advance and booked under “Hawaii Kai executive”. Did not realize that I booked the Par 3, as it did not say anywhere online. Ended up losing the deposit and played the long course. A bit disappointing so watch what you book!
First Timers
First time playing. Booked online with GolfNow and paid $20 in advance. Didn’t realize it was actually the Par 3 course. Ended up playing the long course and had to fork out an extra $53. Watch what you book I guess, but nowhere in the reservation did it mention the Par 3.
Hawaii Kai Executive is just the right amount of challenging
This course plays up and down a steep hill which makes it fun, interesting and, being Hawaii, gives beautiful scenic views. As part of a larger course course it is well thought out, well mainatianed and challenging. And just plain fun. A classy brief afternoon experience.
