Won’t be back
The rough was completely uncut. If you don’t hit it dead center of the fairway, you’re going to lose your ball. Navigating a little bit of a challenge because they don’t really have the holes well defined at each hole. Was not a great experience for me. And the greens were a little bit under kept.
Course layout was excellent but course itself needs major work in tee boxes, rough & sand traps since all were poorly maintained. Weeds were very prevalent except for fairways & greens.
Calumet Country Club
Staff was super friendly and flexible with tee time change. Once you get out there its a beautiful course. Can't wait to go back.
Horrible course
This course was in the horrible condition. Weeds in the tee boxes and rough. Greens were horrible. Didn’t blow off the maple leafs from the greens and fairways. The $45/person rate I thought I was getting a deal on actually felt like an overpayment. If cheap is what you want, that is what you will get here. I have been looking forward to playing here since they went public and it will be the last. This was unfortunate!!!!
Donald Ross Gem
It’s a shame the course has not been taken care of. Very impressive layout. Some of the best greens I’ve seen design wise. They’d be impossible if they cut the greens.
Staff was very friendly.
Not the same
Played this course last year and thought it was great. Went today and the conditions are horrible. Weeds everywhere and super tall rough. Takes forever to find your ball with all the dead dandelions on the rough. Greens had maple leafs all over. Only thing that was nice was the brats at the turn. Heard they have new management. So sad that we wont be coming here again. Not worth it!!
Overpriced for course conditions
I understand they don’t want to put money into the course but price is to high for playing a course where dandelions are flourishing and bunkers are full of weeds and leaves.
Needs some tlc
I know it’s May, but these are some of the slowest greens I can ever recall playing. Course conditions have gone downhill in the years. It is honestly starting to look a little abandoned at the clubhouse. Overgrown everywhere just need some TLC and could be a nice course but just not worth the drive.
Going downhill fast
Got to the course and was told it's walking only and they sent an email (they only sent it to people who called not GolfNow people). My friend can't walk with his knee. They wouldn't refund anything, said it had to go through golf now even tho golf now noted it won't refund. Not the first time this has happened, sad to see but can't recommend this place.
Go somewhere else
Wow, this place has turned into a total dump. There was a lawn mower, not sure why it wasn’t in use. Tee boxes were battered, the rough was long but fine if that’s the course preference. What is inexcusable are the million white puffball weeds all over the course making tracking a ball near impossible. The sand trapts or lower dug out pits of misery with grass and gravel coming through. The greens looked liked they had been roasting in Texas for the last few months.
Icing on the cake, they had no ice. Tried to buy a bag of beers but they had no ice.
What a goat pasture
The fairways were in good shape.
That’s the only positive thing to say about this pasture.
When we pulled in the parking, you are just overwhelmed by the dandelions that are everywhere, never seen so many weeds. The sand traps are the worse I’ve ever seen in 35 years of golfing in then Chicagoland area.
An absolute dump.
Rough opening
Have played Calumet for years and always thought it was best value around. Seems like they just opened and did not prep course like they have in past. Bunkers are horrible. I know it’s early in the season so hopefully course conditions will improve. I will be checking back for other review before playing here again.
COURSE IN GREAT DECLINE
WITH ALL THE OTHER COURSES IN THE SAME AREA OPEN AND CARTS ARE ALLOWED, CALUMET DECDIDED TO BE WALKING ONLY WITH NO PULL CARTS. THIS COURSE WAS BUILT IN 1901 AND WAS PRIVATE FOR DECADES. I HAD A RESERVATION FOR 2 GOLFERSTHRU GOLF NOW AND NOBODY CALLED ME EVEN THOUGH MY NUMBER IN THE SYSTEM. WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN
Can't go wrong with a Donald Ross designed course.
Very nice course but in order to access the very small public restroom, I had to go to a portion of the Clubhouse which has obviously been abandoned for some time now. it was kind of creepy and I don't creep out very easily.
Design is challenging
Design of course was challenging overall the course was in good shape being in October greens where beat up the rough just off the green was too long . I’ll try again next summer Good luck
