Exceptional public golf course
In an upscale Chicago suburb, Oak Brook GC is a well maintained, challenging golf course It has 7 dogleg holes, a number of water holes and greens that are extremely challenging. A great layout. Every round is really different, and I never tire of playing the course. It also has an excellent, well maintained driving range.
The staff is capable and friendly. The club house is very nice for a public course. And the independently operated restaurant is first rate, with a large menu and indoor and outdoor seating. There are servers to take your orders and bring your food promptly.
I have been a member of the club for 11 years and have been very happy there. I was formerly a member of a relatively pricey private club, and I have found Oak Brook to be a desirable alternative at a fraction of the cost of my former private club.
wet and windy, course in good shape. But due to wet, was sloppy.
Meh
It’s a nice track but expect to be talked down to and belittled. Also expect to be threatened to be kicked off if they think you’re playing a little slow which is couple minutes under pace.
Great fun experience
So happy to have played at Oak Brook this past week when visiting Chicago. Staff was fantastic, course a lot of fun and so
reasonably priced. I just had time for nine hole but rental clubs were just $25 and made going out an easy decision.
The course is in great shape, with a nice layout and their restaurant is very good as well. I will definitely go back next time. It is right across from the Drake hotel so that would be an ideal place to stay and play.

I played Oakbrook Golf Course, and the course is in great shape.
The course layout is good, particularly the back nine with some very difficult holes including 23 and 18.
The course has a good deal of water and some holes are wide open and others are tight.
The Greens are quick, and the pace of play was 4 hours for 18 holes.
The back nine is very difficult and the food is good in the restaurant.
Shortish, but greens will challenge
This was my first time playing Oak Brook. I really enjoyed my round. The holes are on the shorter length, but the hole placements and greens are extremely challenging. You have to pay attention on every shot, because if you miss the green in the wrong spot, it is challenging to get down in 3 from off the green. Slopes were everywhere and holes were frequently on knobs or crests on the short holes. I found it fair and demanding, especially on a windy day. I would recommend and will be back. Great test of golf.
Oak brook
Short course - speedy greens, obnoxious pin-placements - wish I played better. Will return - good value
Sloooooooow play
No course should over five hours to play. Group in front of us slowed the entire course down. No ranger to be found the entire round. Not the first time for this issue.
Not going back. Ever.
Slow play
Great course but very slow play with no rangers around to speed it up. So disappointing to have over a 5 hour round.
Windiest day ever
I really like this course. It reminds me of playing in Florida because it's very flat and has a lot of water. The course is in pretty good shape but Sunday was VERY windy so it was tougher than usual but the staff was very friendly and at $60 I will play it again next chance I get.
