Wow
I got sick of playing the same Quad City courses over and over. I decided look around a little and stumbled upon Emerald Hills which is about 50 miles from my house. Turned out to be a great experience. They had a fall rate of $15 for 18 holes with cart and for an extra $3 got 30 range balls. Course is fairly short but a good test. It's in good shape and very little trouble. They just aerated their greens last week but they were still in good shape. They were in better shape than most greens that weren't aerated. Be advised the greens are lightning fast but relatively flat. If you have a little extra drive time and are looking for an enjoyable round of golf, I would highly recommend Emerald Hills.
NW Illinois gem.
This course is in great condition, from tee to green. The rough is especially challenging, deep and thick, but not enough so that you spend a lot of time looking for your ball if you're in it. Greens are fast and true, but weren't holding well due to the hot and dry weather of late. This is a fun, challenging course with some heavily discounted green fees various times (usually between 11am and 1pm) through GolfNow online booking.
Challenging greens
Course was in great shape. Greens are very challenging. Keep it below the hole. Wide open layout but still places to get in trouble. Only disappointment is back to back par 5's on both nines. I would love to see them spread out. We moved around quickly-good pace of play. We also were very happy with the rate on Golfnow.
Beautiful and fair course with good balance!
This course has several tough holes and it's fair share of holes to get at! The rough is long and lushes especially around the greens which will penalize a poor approach but the fairways are in great shape as well as the greens. In fact i would say that the greens were in the best shape of all the courses in the area! They felt firm to walk on which made putting fast and true but they were soft and receptive when you hit a great approach shot into them! I used to shy away from this course because the play seemed a little to "easy" with a wide open layout but now that they have juiced it up with unforgiving rough and speedier greens it's a whole new course!
