No Hot Dogs or Rain Checks
I came here with a friend that I haven't seen in about a decade, which was sad because it may have been best to just avoid this place entirely. We got there right at 7am and the doors were locked with no employees in sight.. Never seen that before, but okay.... luckily someone must have left a key in a cart the night before so we loaded up our stuff and went out on our own. We rolled back by the clubhouse around 8:15 and the clubhouse was finally open, so we stopped in for a cup of coffee. However, there was no coffee available... Great. After being denied our coffee, a short haired woman with a nasty scowl on her face emerged and she growled at us for walking inside with grass on our shoes. We apologized (for some reason) and went back outside [still craving coffee] to look for the shoe scraper, only to find that there was not one present. We returned back inside to ask where it was, and the short haired lady replied "you should know better than to track grass inside". We should have just abandoned our rounds at this point, but for some reason we pressed on. After finishing the 5th hole it began to rain/lightning, so despite not hearing the safety air horn we returned to the clubhouse. After hanging out and waiting for 45 minutes, we decided to get rain checks. The bartender had to go ask the short haired lady (whom we later found out was the OWNER) how to proceed. The OWNER came out and denied our rain check request based on the following grounds: 1.)They did not call us into the clubhouse [despite the Severe Thunderstorm Warning and hundreds of lightning strikes].
2.) Our tee time was at 7:30, it was now 9:15. They don't give rain checks after one hour of play (we sought shelter at 8:30, she couldn't understand that concept though)
3.) After pressing a little bit, the OWNER broke down and admitted that they don't allow rain checks.
I said whatever, lets have a beer and see if they can warm us up a hot dog until the rain stops.
They don't even have Hot Dogs.
We left. Forever.
Great course for price
Great course for cost of play. I enjoy playing this small town course with friendly staff.
Good condition
For this time of the year the course was in good condition. Staff was very pleasant and pace was awesome!!! Hardly anyone was on the course so I played 18 in 2 hours and 15 minutes!
Loved It
Great course. I love the layout. Very forgiving.
Water
There was no water stations on the course. Everything else was fine.
Average course, good bloody mary, great price.
I have been wanting to play Cedar Point for sometime just because it's close and you can always find a "Hot Deal." on Golf Now. I booked 18 holes with cart for $11. I arrived at the course, checked in and jumped in my cart. There was a twosome in front of me so I checked out the range and putting green. Both average and what you would expect to find at most courses.
I was now up and tee'd off. The front 9 was definitely part of the old course and was in average condition. The tee boxes were in OK shape and the fairways were like playing from the first cut. The greens on the other hand were in pretty good shape. Most of the holes were pretty straight forward and did not require much imagination.
After the front 9 I stopped in to the clubhouse for a bloody Mary and a hot dog. The hot dog was average but the bloody Mary was pretty darn good. I could have sucked down a few more of those but wanted to keep my drives in the fairway.
I then hit the back 9 which is much nicer than the front 9. This part of the course is much newer and works though a new development of homes being built along the course. There are some nice holes, the fairways are better groomed and it offers some nice water/hazard features.
Throughout the round, the pace of play was excellent. The cart was in good shape and was pretty quick. Ball washers on each hole as well as hole layout signage. The signage was a big help as this was the first time I have played here.
All in all this course is pretty average. I would like to see better fairway conditions but it is early in the season and for $11, who cares. This is a track that I will probably only play once a year.
