Needs a lot of work.
Course in rough shape as of 5/7/25. Grass in rough has large tufts from mowing, in addition to being super thick. Balls easily in play are near impossible to find. Fairways in rough conditions as well, and greens have large spots of missing turf. Really disappointing experience in the face of how nice the Big Blue course is. If you're coming here, save yourself and just play Big Blue.
This is better??
The back nine was closed for a long time for improvements. They failed. Half the cart paths were gravel (destroyed black top). The fairways were really spotty. One green looked like it had golf mats installed as part of the surface. $55? Ridiculous. It’s fairly obvious they suck the money from this course to put into Big Blue. I suppose they don’t want to lose the UK golf team.
My honest opinion is for the price; play elsewhere. Big Blue is fine. Wildcat is garbage
Tough Rough
The day was kind of dragged down by US Open style rough. While we played in 4-hours, it could have been faster except for losing balls in the rough. The rough was so long you had to trip over the ball to find it.
Couple greens are in dire need of help, areas look dead. The course did roll the greens that morning and they weee rock hard.
Would probably enjoy it more the second time around.
Disappointing
I guess their lawn mowers are all broken! lol…major mowing needed around tee boxes and first cut of fairways. Lost more balls today right off the fairway then I have my whole life. This is not “deep” rough it’s just think unmowed and uncared for. Disappointing for this to be part of UK club regardless if it’s not the Big Blue course.

Good time
Staff in clubhouse was friendly though seemed to be new. Went in as a single and told me I'd be playing with another single and wasn't going to give me a cart initially because other guy had one, though I didn't know who other player was or where they were at. On top of that, there were a number of twosomes that went out before us that took forever and slowed pace of play substantially. Wish some of the college golfers were a little more aware of etiquette. But course was nice, greens were fast, PIN were in touch spots, so overall a pleasant challenge. Would definitely go again if back in the area.
Fav course
Course played really well. Only bad thing was being a solo player behind groups. Course was in great shape including tee boxes. Shot a 79 when I played. Range was also in great shape. Definitely a place to play if you haven’t yet.
Disappointed
I was more than a bit disappointed in the condition of the Wildcat Course. I had played the Big Blue course a few times and was always well pleased with it. Prior to playing the Wildcat course I called and was told that the wildcat course was the better of the two courses. The staff told me that the greens had been aerated two weeks ago, but were fully healed and in good condition. Unfortunately, upon arrival we found that the greens still had very large holes in them and were generally in poor condition. Fairways were also a bit rough. Contrary to what I was told the course was in fair condition at best, nowhere close to the quality I previously experienced on the Big Blue course. We drove in from Indiana looking forward to playing a great course and were quite disappointed with the conditions on Wildcat course.
Beautiful Day in the Bluegrass
First time seeing and playing this course. Very nice and well kept up. Pace of play was really good and we were never pushed.
Greens were fairly fast with challenging pin placements on most holes. Speed led to more 3 putts for me than usual but that was on me.
The other challenge was leaves just off some fairways but expected this time of year.
I was pleasantly surprised by the well kept fairways given the time of year. Excellent shape.
Loved it and am considering joining as a member in 2025.
