What has happened to this course
My buddies and I had an opportunity to play the private course through an online invite so we couldn’t pass it up, well we should have. I have probably played here 8-10 times over the past 12 years and it’s all ways been in awesome condition. I don’t know what has happen but it is truly disappointing because the layout is a fun and challenging for all golfers. The fairways are a sponge shag carpet I can’t explain what the rough is i truly don’t know. Bunkers where crushed dirt and some of the t boxes had more sand than most bunkers. Now the positives, because of the online offer it was only $29 with cart and we played in 4 hours on a Saturday only because no else was out there.
Beautiful
Course is in immaculate condition, except for bunkers. Bunkers are now undergoing renovation. Very challenging course with a helpful and courteous staff.
Nice layout in middle of housing development.
The one thing that I really liked about this course was hoe much room there was between holes. The fairways are not tight but not too wide. Challenges your drive. Greens are fast. Beautiful country club.its a private club but I guess when it's slow they open it up to the public. Didn't see it on golf now till last week.
rude, rude, ugh
I really liked the course. It was challenging, but no too hard. The groundskeepers did a great job on all facets of the course.
The pro shop staff and the bar staff were very obvious about their displeasure about non-members being at the club. For example, the pro shop dude said he would "let us know" when we could tee off - and ignored us.
After 2 holes, I was trying to decide if I wanted to come back and be treated this way, but at the end I was certain I would enjoy making the staff unhappy and will play again.
What a let down
The other times I have played the polo fields the course has always been good. The staff has never been friendly but can be tolerated. But this time they wouldn't take cash, charged for range balls and delayed due to frost. Had a nine o'clock tee told to wait until ten which was fine then a twosome was let out to play at 9:50 whose tee time was after your. Their pace of play was slow had to wait on 14 out of 18 holes, pitiful Fairways airrated was terrible should have been discounted
Fall Maintenance Issue
While traveling to Louisville, I got what I thought was a good deal on Golfnow. Come to find the fairways had been recently aerated and the spoils had not yet been removed leaving the fairways nearly unplayable. The greens had recently been aerated as well and they were not much better. I understand that maintenance needs to be done this time of year but a heads up on Golfnow, or even in the pro shop while checking in, that the course was undergoing maintenance would have been helpful.
Layout okay and in good shape, but good luck finding a yardage.
I like the course okay, but the course would be more enjoyable to play if the yardage markers were more visible. I would guess this is one of the most poorly marked courses in the area.
Great course
They had just aerated the greens, other than that the course was in excellent shape.
Has potential but needs work
It seems the staff has let the course go this fall. The bunkers are in bad shape with more clay and water than sand. The fairways were in good shape but covered in leaves making it easy to lose a ball. Yes, it's fall, but it looked like the leaves had been accumulating for a week.
The greens were recently aerated.
This course really needs a scorecard with a map. Many holes require less than driver and/or are blind tee shots. I found myself driving forward 200 yards to see where I was going before hitting a tee shot. My cart and I noticed others, was nearly dead by the 17th hole.
Good course if you catch a deal
The Polo Fields was once a great course. While it's not bad now, it is not what it once was.
The greens are a little rough in spots but the good spots are smoove and provides a good roll on the ball.
Fairways are spotty with patches of grass here and there.
Overall, the course presents a good challange and is one to play if you catch a good deal around $35.
Not worth the money.
I paid $40 on golfnow to play this course and it wasn't even remotely worth that. The bunkers on this ourse were the worst that I've ever played. Most consisted mostly of dirt and rock. The hot dog at the turn was gross and it took forever to get someone to wait on us.
hot day on the links
course is in great shape, hit the ball to the pins on the approach cause the greens will hold if coming in high
An interesting round
The course is in very good shape. The greens are well kept, smaller than some courses and rolling which makes them challenging. The balls check up nicely due to the condition and amount of rain we've had. This was the first time playing for all of my threesome, so we were surprised by several short-drive fairways: #1, 11 and 16. There was no course layout offered on the scorecard to warn us, so we just played our lost balls as if they had not been. All of us enjoyed the round. It was very hot - in the 90's - and none of the coolers had water in them, which was surprising. In all liklihood we will play this scenic, challenging, and interesting course again.
Polo Fields
Very good condition....enjoyed it. Pace of play was a bit slow, but expected sometimes on weekend. Greens rolled at a good speed too compared to other local courses. Play at least one tee back from your usual due to length.
over priced
A beautiful course that's over priced for what it offers. For $50 deal on golf now, not worth it. There's other courses at that price that actually offer GPS units in the carts and have visible and accessible yardage markers in the fairway. The greens were beat up. I won't waste my money on this course again.
Tight course
Very tight course. Lots of OB on both sides of the fairway. Not an overly long course, but you've got to be straight. A lot of blind shots into fairways and greens. The rough played tough around green. Would play here again.
You Get What You Pay For
Typical 90's era housing development track coupled with former private club struggling to survive. Greens ok but overall conditions fair at best. From staff to course conditions to overall impressions lots of signs of corner cutting that is degrading quality of the product. Not a bad value for Golf Now price but keep your expectations in check.
Golfing prior to PGA Tourney
Played at 2pm on Wed prior to PGA Tourney. Some rain earlier in week so course was soft but in fine shape. Greens looked nice and rolled true. The only negative on course condition is lack of sand in bunkers. Staff friendly and talked with club member at bar after the round ( they have 350-400 members ). Pace of play was fine.
Well-kept Course
The golf course and clubhouse were well above average. The pace-of-play was a big negative: ahead of us was a foursome, a single, and then a two-some...the single and two-some should have been paired. The course could certainly use a range-marshal. The week prior we had to call in & complain about a group of 5 that was ahead of us. Again, great course, but slow play due to lack of player oversight.
Excellent course for the money
I ayes in the evening and the course was great! And only 30 dollars. There was hardly anyone on the course I was finished with my round in 2 hours.
