West at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort

About
Situated in southwest Michigan's beautiful lake region, Gull Lake View Golf Club offers five championship courses that are easily accessible from Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, making it a favorite for golfers from all over the Midwest and Great Lakes. It is also less than 3 hours from some parts of Canada. Gull Lake View West is the club's original course. The club is the oldest and largest in southwest Michigan and it all started with the West Course. Opened in 1963, the golf course has a traditional layout that offers a challenging but fair test. The natural terrain takes center stage on this course. The layout plays across grassy meadows, rolling hills, and valleys and there are also a few densely wooded holes. The diverse terrain calls for a variety of different shots as well as careful strategy.

Beautiful day at Gull Lake Resort - West Course
The staff and golf amenities are excellent. The course was in great condition for mid-October. Very challenging course with fast undulating greens. The bunkers were in very good condition and consistent to hit out of.
Good course, not the best Gull Lake has to offer
Both east and west can suffer from swampy conditions after rain, which was what happened to us, I much prefer Stonehedge but West was a great and experience well-maintained. A few holes especially on the back were very spongy.
Nice facilities overall, but I'm not in a rush to play it again.
The grass was long. The fairway needed to be cut, the rough was extra rough, and the greens were well maintained by slow. It has rained a lot lately so I'm sure the grass is growing quickly and contributed to the slow greens. All the tee boxes were nice, even the yellow and red. My partner liked the course but I'm personally not a huge fan of hilly courses, or courses where you can look around and see flags from 3-5 other holes and multiple different fairways. Overall, I'd much rather play the East course. The ranger was friendly and seems up keep things moving, which I appreciated. Food in the clubhouse is excellent and they have beer on tap.
Eclipse Golf
Played during the April 2024 eclipse... We were the only ones on the course as far as we could tell. Course was in great shape, challenging and fun.
Slow play
Course was in good shape as always. We were the first tee time behind an outing of inexperienced players, so play was painfully slow. Would have been nice to know that. We could have easily taken a later tee time and had a better experience. This course is otherwise usually dependable and in good shape, and is a good value, so we will definitely be back (but will ask about outings when we book!).
