Maize nine much nicer layout than Green

My wife and I drove down from Grand Rapids to meet my brother who came from New Jersey for a wedding out in Jackson so we had breakfast with him and then we golf with my other buddy who just moved down to Jackson couple years ago at Hickory Hills. We had played Calderone And Cascades and El Dorado up in Mason and they were much nicer conditions than what Hickory Hills was. The front line was just kind of an open cow pasture for the most part not very good shape. At least they had the greens watered and for our back, we played the maze course which goes down into the woods. And was much nicer layout than the green nine. William Newcomb design, which he has some very nice courses actually, he designed Calderone and links of Bowen lake up in our neck of the woods.
The problem is they kind of let the place go. The sand traps are absolutely horrible all grown in and it would not really take a whole lot to get them in better shape. I don’t know at least run a rake in a three wheeler or something through the ones that don’t have too much grass in, just make them presentable. The other major issue with the operation was the golf cart were absolutely pitiful. We barely made it up and down the little hills very old and very bad shape even had like kind of a junkyard up there where tea started I suppose the blue nine would probably be much similar to the maze through the woods, we saw parts of that. The white nine was closed for the year. It looks like that is down in the hole and I’m sure it gets flooded out pretty bad in the spring.

I guess I would recommend if you do play here play the maze and probably the blue unless you like open in our beginners and need it a little bit easier the green would be OK for you, but for us, it was one and it’s too bad potential for character but it’s not kept up the way. It should be although we only paid like 26 bucks each on a Saturday afternoon with the online coupon they gave you so that was fair but oh well.

Green nine open, not much character, Maize much nicer

My brother and his family were coming out to Jackson Michigan for a wedding so we decided to meet him for breakfast and also play some golf with my other buddy who just moved down that way the last couple years. We have played Calderone and Cascades and El Dorado up in Mason and they were by far much better than this course, we wanted to keep the price down and with the coupon they gave us online. It was $72 for three of us which was OK on Saturday afternoon. The lady in the clubhouse was is very nice, the green nine goes along the road kind of noisy kind of open. We played the maize for our back nine which was much nicer more of a wooded parkland setting, and with the exception of the sand traps, which were absolutely awful and the golf carts, which were in desperate need of being replaced the back was nice and I figured the blue nine is probably just about the same as what the maze was through the woods. The white nine was closed for the. Year.

yeah, it’s really too bad that they’re letting this go to the dogs. I guess I would say the greens were OK but the fairways were not very good shape. They were trying to water it, but the golf carts were barely get us through the round. They were awful. The traps were pretty much grown with weeds and stuff almost like they were just letting it go I’m sure the property is very valuable but it’s been there for over 50 years. I guess I thought I saw. WithThe names of Matthews and Newcomb architectsI thought they would’ve kept it up a little better. There is so much competition in this area ,next time I guess we’ll go across the street and try Arbor Hills but it’s a one and done here for us but they were getting some decent business so there’s always needs for that lower end course if you were beginner and you need to take a lot of time this would be your course to try( the green nine)

Great Course, Did Not Honor GolfNow

Would have given this course 5 stars for its quality, but when I arrived with my Golf Now confirmation, they informed me they don’t honor it anymore and I was asked to pay the normal rate at the course. Please remove this course from GolfNow so other users don’t run into the same problem. Aside from that, the course was beautiful.

Had fun, play the Maze and blue holes, they have 36 holes. Not bad for the money, 17 dollars.
