Twin Birch Golf Club

About
The beautiful setting of Twin Birch Golf Club in Kalkaska features stands of red pine and birch trees lining the fairways and the Boardman River, which winds its way all throughout the course. The golf course is mostly flat with the exception of a few raised greens on the back nine. The greens on the front nine are level with open fronts, inviting players to attach the flags. There are ample landing zones along the tree-lined fairways, making Twin Birch a golf course that will appeal to beginners and high handicappers but there are still challenges in store for the more advanced golfers as well. Some of the doglegs holes can be quite tricky. There are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along some of the greensides and water comes into play on eight holes.

Priced 2 Play
Course grounds in great condition throughout. Love this course it plays friendly and priced well. Staff is friendly and dinning/bar area is a bonus.
Great Course!
We have been golfing at Twin Birch for years. It’s a great little course and decently kept. Many clearing improvements have been made and are very nice. The new clubhouse and restaurant are amazing. Great food!
Always look forward to golfing and having dinner there! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
Fall outing
Beautiful fall day almost summer like. Greens were in great condition. Clubhouse/food area congested and we were unable to get food/drinks at the turn. Paired with 2 friendly locals.
Range and Ranger
The driving range is in rough shape needs some help. I did not see a starter or I never saw a ranger to keep the pace of golf moving
Great Golf
A great course for a reasonable price. Restaurant is fabulous.
Beautiful course, great value for the price
We drove up from Traverse City to play, only about a half hour or so drive so not too bad a drive if you are planning to stay there. Staff were friendly, clubhouse looked very nice and has an outdoor patio. The course is beautiful and well-maintained. Holes range from easy to challenging at some points.I would say the biggest complaint we had is that some of the course was not marked appropriately as to where the next tee was and we took a wrong turn somewhere around hole 13 or 14 and missed a few holes playing on the back 9. Another gripe was the pace of play-we had a foursome in front of us we were waiting on and a twosome behind us that were impatient. At one point we were yelled at by someone in a group behind us telling us to hurry up but not much we could have done since we were waiting on group in front of us. Overall, a really beautiful course and appropriate for both beginners and seasoned players.
Pace of play was terrible.
Took 3 hrs to play 9 holes, gave up and left on 10 th
6 groups on one hole one on green one in fairway one on tee and 3 groups waiting.
Played here before and was good so don't know what was going on. Must have been way over booked.
Twin Birch
Great course...greatly improved since last played 2007.
Advertised golf attire not adhered to or monitored. No starter or on-course ranger. Traditional golf etiquette and courtesies not rendered by other players on course.
Pace of play so slow we surrendered after 12 holes!.
Clubhouse restaurant was awesome. Food perfect, wait staff attentive, professional, and caring.
Will be back. Hope Director of Golf gets handled these critical comments.
Challenging Afternoon
I love to play this course!!! The overall condition of this course is very acceptable, There are some patches in the fairway which prevented me from giving this course a 5 star rating. But the bunkers are freshly raked and the greens are in great shape. The course has pine trees guarding the thin fairways and the water placement makes it a challenge. To score low, you have to be an advanced golfer who can hit to a certain yardage and have the ability to work the ball. There are plenty of doglegs left and right which calls for the player to hook or fade the ball as needed. This course has a new clubhouse which is very nice and a restaurant that has indoor and outdoor dining. Overall this course is well worth the money and will definitely challenge your golfing skills.
