If it's your only option on a Labor Day ... maybe
I've played on some pretty meager courses in my youth. I knew this wasn't a great course, but figured it would be a fine place for my adult daughter to try her first round with minimal pressure and traffic. It's really not. The course is very neglected. Not sure how else to put it. It's only a golf course in that it has tee boxes and greens. Everything in between is homogenous. One of the "fairways" could have doubled for the a mogul run if it were downhill. Hazards are almost indistinguishable from the edge of the rough. I get it. It's a budget course. But have some pride, owners.
Don’t play here.
Looks like they gave up on maintaining it. Hard to distinguish between fairway and rough. Bunkers not maintained at all. Greens hard and bumpy. Fairways and rough unbelievably bumpy. Price is good but man they need some maintenance.
This course will disappoint.
This course may have been good back in the day. However, this was the worst course I have ever played. The bunkers are overgrown with weeds. The fairways are washboarded so you are in for an uncomfortable ride in the cart. The whole course doesn’t look like the grass was cut. With grass 6-8 inches tall in the rough in some spots it was a foot tall. I’m not kidding there was grass clubs everywhere and piles of grass clippings on the tee boxes. We lost many balls that were in play just because we couldn’t find them. You will spend more time looking for your ball than playing it. For the price we paid there are many excellent options. This is not one of them…….
Stay clear.
Not worth it
First green was dirt not grass. Most fairways are so bumpy that you can barely drive a cart. 15 is basically unplayable.
STAY AWAY!
The rumors are true, Viking will be closing soon and should do so. It was the worst maintained course I have ever played! 90% of the holes had not been mowed in a very long time. The fairways had massive areas of 4-5" long grass that ate up balls, and the rough had to be 8-9" deep. What had been mowed a week ago was still piled up like hay all over the courae. The greens were very very slow with lots of large chunks of dead turf or dirt. It used to be a low quality course that was a decent value, but now it's just a total waste of money.
Not worth the experience.
Both the greens and fairways were awful. The fairways were bumpy and unkept, while many if not all the greens were in horrible condition. On the plus side the office staff was friendly and professional.
