Beautiful views of Lake Superior
Pros: Worth playing for the views alone. Nice layout with a variety of different holes. Walkers will find a challenge due to the uphill/downhill setup. Staff is friendly and helpful. Greens were in excellent condition.
Cons: If you are using a cart, you will find it to be one of the bumpiest, most bone jarring rides you have ever experienced. Golf carts are sometimes in short supply.
I would like to play it again next time I get up to Duluth.
Perfect for the Scratch Golfer
Great course with the perfect level of difficulty for intermediate level golfers. The “lake side 9” is not as scenic as desired or described but has a few quick picture spots. The cart paths are in rough shape and the greens are dried out and bumpy. That is my only complaint. Wide open fairways and huge greens leave you with a round of positivity and confidence when your through. The staff is very friendly and happy. Grounds keeper talked us up as we hit a few on the range before our round. Friendly patrons and great weather made for a very fun day of golf.
Great test of golf
Built on a hillside, it plays very long. The course was in good shape. The course needs a shorter tee for seniors, kids, and beginners. Is not the best course to walk.
Lake superior views were worth the price of golf
I would consider this course a bucket list course to play in a lifetime. It was that good. The scenery is spectacular. Because of the views and the challenge of the golf course i would rate this 9 plus to a 10. I enjoyed this course as much as poi puy bay in Kwai in Hawaii .
Don't get fooled when visiting the parking facilities and clubhouse. They are in much need of repair and upgrade. Fortunately money is put in the golf course. No complaints there.
Great views and great course
I'm a member here so I'm biased but this course for the money is tough to beat. Lots of doglegs and the views of lake superior are fantastic. Play the Lake nine if you have the stones for it.
Great Duluth Public golf course.
The course was in very good condition. Fun layout. If you're a big driver, you will have fun! Some challenging par-3's. All around great experience. WILL RETURN!!
Beautiful Views
This course has beautiful views of Lake Superior. It is a shorter course but fun to play. The course was in great shape. The only complaint I have was how hard the greens are, there wasn't much stopping the ball.
Passing Through
If you want to play a very nice course with outstanding views of the lake and SUPER friendly staff pick this course. Will be back next time in town
Looks are Decieving
The course looked really good when we arrived. Then we had to wait for a cart 20 minutes past our tee time during which slow golfers who didn't let us play through hopped out in front of us. Course was too firm to hit nice shots needed to be arrated
Beautiful views of Lake Superior
The course had awesome views of the lake. The staff was very friendly. The kitchen offered a big menu of breakfast and lunch choices. Food was great! We will go back next time we are in Duluth.
stunning views and great golf course
I loved this course but the day was dimmed by my spouse missing his game. Anyway, the views are to die for, fairways generally generous and in good shape. I found some of the greens to be bumpy and fringe had some hardpan. Not as lush as some of our recent finds in WI. I always gauge a course by "would I want it to be my home course" and this one gets a thumbs up on that. It has lots of interesting shot opportunities and the setting just can't be beat. And, Duluth is a special find, too.
Lester
Disappointed allowing a fivesome on a Sunday afternoon. Really slowed pace of play.
Beautiful day - friendly staff!
The lake course has beautiful scenery with a striking view around every corner! Fairways were tight and challenging adding up to an enjoyable day! Staff was very friendly and accommodating!
Gorgeous views and beautiful well groomed course.
We absolutely loved playing this course. It was well groomed and had nice long holes and challenging but fun.
Great Scenery of Lake Superior
I found an unbelievable deal on Golfnow.com hot deals. Had a little trouble booking my Tee time through Golfnow.com and had to call Golfnow.com customer service. They were excellent, finding out what the problem was and booking the time. The course staff was very friendly, and let my wife ride along on my golf cart for free, even though I offered to pay! Played the front 9, and it seemed very slow. They have 27 holes, so you can choose to play the customary back 9 or play the lakes 9. The lakes 9 is considerably more difficult, so it didn't seem to get as much play, but was kept up well. We played the lakes 9, as we didn't want to follow the slow foursome that we were behind on the front 9. Course was very well maintained for a municipal course and had great scenic views. Bunkers could use some work as they had a many stones in them, but other than that, the course conditions were very good. Finished in about 4 1/4 hrs, but the slow front 9 was about 2 1/2 hours. Not sure if its always slow, or just the group that was in front of us. Overall it was a great value for the price paid.
Great "hot deal" from golf now
Beautiful views of Lake Superior. Still quite wet from all the spring rain.
