The best fall golf in Macomb County
When most golf courses have quit mowing the greens and fairways, Sycamore Hills plays like it's summertime. I played on a beautiful November 18th morning, all the greens were freshly mowed and the staff was working hard to mow the fairways. The lady at the starters shack was very nice. I have played many other courses this fall and Sycamore Hills was by far the best.
Overall very good
The course was in very good shape for the most part. My only issue was the tee’s on all of the par three’s on the west and south course. They were in terrible shape.
Course is rough. Not worth the money.
We played the week after Labor Day. I played on roughly 10 courses through michigan and metro Detroit and this is by far the worse course I played on.
Fairways are dry, greens are dry. Not sure if they even have a sprinkler system.
Could barely put my tee in 3/4 of the tee boxes. That is the dry I am talking about.
Lots of play & it shows
Took 4:35 to play 18 here compared to the 2:58 it took to play at a neighboring course yesterday.
Greens run true and moderately quick for a public course when they dry out. Tee boxes are an absolute abomination (narrow marlers and completely chewed up) and the reason for my overall rating of average.
One or 2 of the holes were washed out in low lying spots due to flooding from the river meandering through the course.
Always nice, could use some bunker TLC.
Most of the elements of a good course are here, nice greens, mostly good fairways. Bunkers are a mess. Not worked in what appears to be weeks? Since there are a lot of bunkers, this is unacceptable. Fix the bunkers and some fairway landing areas it becomes a really nice gold course.
The pace of play was awful. We saw two groups leave after 3/4 holes. A ranger never came by to tell the slow group to pick up the pace. After getting hit into on hole 9, the twosome behind us jumped us at the turn. At one point there were 5 groups waiting at a tee box for a Par 4. Two of the Par 5s are down to Par 3s due to fairway repairs.
