Reviews
Sexist staff
Tried making a tee time in August 2020 in person. When I asked if I could join an earlier foursome (since the only thing available was 10:59 and I didn't want to play in the late morning hot summer hours) the man working there said to me "I don't know if they'd want to play with you." When he saw the shock on my face his response was "people are here on vacation," to which I replied, "I'm here on vacation as well. I'd played the course in 2019 with someone local who made the tee time. The course was okay, nothing great but since golf is limited in the area, I thought I'd go back. I can't imagine he would have said the same thing to a man. Two days before I played the Crystal Coast Country Club with 3 mem I didn't know, had a great time and played well. It's an expensive course but well worth it, course is very well maintained, several holes run along the water and everyone there was polite and welcoming.
Great round of golf...
Played all 27 holes. Course is in great shape - kudos to the grounds crew! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great value and will definitely play again.
Nice Course
This course was in good shape. The fairways and greens were nice. We played in the afternoon and it was not crowded.
Star Hill Round
when I got to there I was told I was paying for 9 holes. I was embarrassed, the manager said it happens all the time. It feels like a bait and switch. I had to pay
for 9 more hole to make it an 18 hole round. I manager is grinning but I am not.
Decent beach course
We played from the gold tees and course ended up playing somewhat short. Overall, a typical beach course, but we both enjoyed it. Nobody in front and nobody behind made it seem like we had the course to ourselves. Wind made it challenging.
Great time
Great course for all levels
Nice course.
Well maintained course. Greens were in good shape. Three nines keep pace of play on target.
Great Course
Enjoyed playing course would recommend to any golf player.
Beautiful day at Star Hill
Great condition. Straight forward layout. Very good pace of play considering the number of players on course. Greens soft and fast... One of my favorite courses in the area!
Rods review
Overall a great day and venue venue for golf. Missed attendant providing cart service to car....must have been busy.
fun course
always enjoy playing at Star Hill fun course to play
Decent 27 hole layout
Course is a challenge and length makes you use every club in bag. Rough needs better maintenance. Greens were smooth and fast. Unfortunately, not everyone who plays it feels they need to repair ball marks. Fees were pricey for 18, but the $12 fee to play 27 made it worthwhile.Range has no lenght place to warmup with the driver. Can only warm up with short irons.
Very close to Emerald Isle resorts
Our foursome played on Wednesday afternoon in August. The course was in great shape and very fun to play. The staff was helpful and friendly. For what we paid, I believe it was an excellent value. I would definitely play again.
Great Greens
Greens were in great shape. $58.00 was a little expensive, but i assume the costs is reflective of being located on the coast.
Great value
Course was in good shape. We played in less than 4 hours. The guy in the proshop got us out a little early. We were never pushed nor did we have to wait on any shots. The ranget was friendly and helped us fnd a wayward shot. My first time playing but will make it an annual vacation stop.
Price?????
Everything at this course is Mediocre which I have absolutely no issue with if they charged to comparative price to the Meritocracy, But to charge 60$ for that is absolutely ridiculous. Add that to them only letting their snowbird buddies to play specific nines is sad, but I know that is the perks of a course employee. What you are paying for is drive time. Star Hill is closer to Emerald Isle then most other courses so I guess that is how they legitimize their pricing. We stopped going there and go to Crystal Coast and Brandywine, those courses are better and cost less money.
The Price was Right
The course was very nice and clean. The Sands and the Pine courses were pretty open.
Rude Staff
I'm not sure if you have to be rude to get a job at Star Hill or just be rude while working there, but nevertheless this course has the rudest staff of any course I've ever played. Adding to that the pro shop and "restaurant" have not been updated since their respective constructions thirty years ago. Also, it's incredibly overpriced for the area. The worst part? The course is well designed and the greens are fabulous. This course desperately needs new ownership and will close within the next ten years if it doesn't get it.
Nice course excellent greens
I like the lay out of the courses they give you the chance to score well if you keep the ball in the short grass. The green fringes were being aerated the weekend I played but the greens were in perfect condition and pin placement was fair. I especially enjoy the greens Always in great shape
Friendly staff, nice course
My husband and I love coming here when we visit Emerald Isle. Always friendly and courteous staff. Course is fun to play. We came at a great time, quick pace and finished our round in 3 hours. Thanks
