Final Round at Larkhaven
It was a cold start to the day but warmed up nicely for our last round at Larkhaven. Sad to find out they will be closing for good in three weeks. Greens are fairways are in great shape. Clubhouse staff was excellent as usual.
Great Course
My fiancé and I played here and had a great time! The greens are in excellent shape and lightning quick! Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was good. Great value! We will definitely be back.
Great Course with glass greens!
First time playing this course and very sad to hear that it is closing soon for houses to be built on the 120 acres. One of my home course just went through the same thing and hate that there are not enough golfers to help sustain this great sport.
The course layout was challenging but fun and the greens were so fast I struggled putting all day. While the greens were fast they were in great shape.
Again sad to see this one go away because I would be a repeat player! :-(
Unfortunate
This was a very nice course to play. I am a fairly new golfer so the course was challenging to me but very fun. It is so unfortunate that this course is closing, what a shame. I will try to play it again before it actually closes
Good Greens. Harsh Rough and Tee Boxes.
The rough is infiltrated with crab greens, more reason to land in the fairways. Bunkers are mostly clay, little sand. Fairways grass was genuine and kind. Very happy with the Greens, wonderful shape and roll true. 10 on the stimp?
Greens: 9/10
Bunkers: 2/10
Fairways: 7/10
Rough: 3/10
Tee boxes: 5/10...but they are at least flat
Always Fun
This course has recovered nicely from the pipe work that affected a few holes for a while. Fairways in good shape and the greens are really good. Ran true with puts and not a lot of ball mark problems. Hate to see this one go away at the end of the year.
Had not played here in nearly a decade. Will be at least that long before I do again.
When I played this course the first time (about 10 years ago), I found it to be an interesting layout in pretty good condition, but with greens that were almost unplayably slow because, as I was informed in the clubhouse, "the members like it that way." I did not go back for nearly a decade, but finally gave it another try.
What I found was a course that was exactly the opposite in every respect: the greens were firm and fast, but the rest of the course was in miserable condition, with bare tee boxes, burned out fairways and a pace of play which was awful.
Greens are terrific
Overall great value for a practice round. Play mid-day for a quick pace. Starter and snack shop super friendly and very helpful. Left a club on the course and it wasn't turned in so the clientele, or at least one of them are untrustworthy. A few challenging holes and a couple fairways are torn up and being re-planted. I find this one of my go to places.
Good Time
Hooked up with three guys I had not played with before. Had a great time. Hate to see this course go away at the end of the year. Pace of play was good, little slow in spots but that was to be expected on a Friday. Pipe work that affected some holes has been completed and those areas have not been sodded. Greens were in good shape and rolled true.
Excellent design and challenging
Enjoyed playing this course
Course has bounced back well from
utility work.
Good value
Great course for average golfer. Challenges on some and no frills on other holes. Enough to stay interested. The greens were true and the fairways were in decent shape.
Staff was exceptional and made the day enjoyable. This course is in it's last season and that's a shame. But progress and the value of the real estate have prevailed I guess.
Larkhaven 5/24/18
This course has had to deal with the City putting a sewer line in through the middle of the course. Construction is finally over, and they have put sod down in the areas that were torn up by construction. It's still Ground Under Repair so free drops if you hit it in the sod. The fairway isn't great, there are some bare spots. The greens are awesome though. They are fast but roll true, and give a difficult challenge every time I play here. For $20 on the weekday, you won't find a course with a better value for how good these greens are.
Good Course
Larkhaven is a great value. Got in a round for $24. Played as a single and got around in 3 hours. Fairways are bare with spots where there was not any grass. Pipeline work going on and it altered the way you played some holes. Hate to see this course go away at the end of the year but it was good to get in a round before that happens.
Needs a lot of work
Played here a few years ago. Course has a great layout but is in really bad condition. There is some underground pipe construction going in which has most of the course destroyed.
Payed too much money for a course in such bad condition.
Below average
The course was not in good shape. There was extensive work going on wasn't listed on website. The tee box on #9 was atrocious. No grass, just bare spots and weeds. We paid $32 and it should have been 1/2 that. Sorry for the bad rating, but just being honest.
One of the worst courses I've ever played.
There was no difference between fairway or rough, no matter where your ball went you were hitting off dirt with a few exceptions of dried up grass. There was quite a bit of construction going on which was a distraction as well and the greens were basically concrete spray painted green. Out of my 18 years playing golf this course is probably one of the worst places I've had the displeasure of playing and should find new management asap.
