The Olympic at Gold Mountain Golf Course

About
Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington offers two championship courses, the Olympic and Cascade, both of which are known as two of the best public courses in the greater Seattle area. The Olympic Course is the more challenging of the two with more hills and water hazards. Dramatically sculpted from the thick Pacific Northwest forest, the driving corridors are surprisingly generous. Towering evergreens line the fairways and there are significant elevation changes throughout, making it a complete workout to walk the course. The layout's most challenging element is the undulating greens, which are often guarded by bunkers and mounding. The final four holes are the most memorable featuring a combination of water, trees, and stunning views. The final hole on the Olympic Course is a drivable par 4 that is the perfect finish to your round.

Awesome Day at Olympic
Did this course as part of Chambers Bay's Championship Experience. Had an early AM tee time, and weather was perfect. Package came with cart and range balls, but course was walkable and many were doing so.
Thought the course layout and conditions were very good. Greens had some patchy spots, but rolled true for the most part. Although this goes through the trees, didn't think it was that narrow.
#18 is an interesting hole as it's on the short side, perfect ending if you were in a match and needed to make birdie.
Pace was just under 4 hours, saw the beverage cart when playing back side.
If I lived in this area, I would play this course over and over as I think course knowledge is beneficial.
Great layout and condition
Played Olympic twice for the first time. Took <4.5 hours and 5 hours each. The course layout is fantastic. Holes have their own characters. #9 is great looking from the tee. #18 short par4 offers a drivable approach. The greens are undulated but reasonable w reasonable speed.
The only unpleasant experience was caused by a rude single golfer behind our foursome. The front 9 took nearly 3 hours b/c of a slower 3-some in front of us. The single dude blamed and yelled us even he could clearly see we have been waiting for the group in front all the time. On the turn, the slow 3-some dropped out. We finished the second 9 in 1.5 hour! Unfortunately covid brings more golfers, and not all of them know pace of play nor are courteous.
So while the pace of play is okay. Course marshall is needed.
Most underrated Course so far on GolfAdvisor
It's a total shame that Olympic at Gold Mountain is rate so low on GolfAdvisor. It's my new most underrated course on GA (replacing Riverwalk San Diego). This course should easily rate in the high 4's, not a 3.9. I found it to have all the qualities I look for in a 5 star rating:
- Championship length, check
- Challenging, memorable layout, check
- Plush tee to green and well groomed, check
- Well kept greens that roll true and fast, check
Honestly, I don't know who is playing and rating this course so low, but they are either spoiled rotten or very grumpy, and please don't blame the course for people playing slow! Ridiculous! Glad I listened to the experts who consistently place both 18's in the top 5 courses in the Seattle area. I'm not even going to bother with pictures, because if you're a smart golfer, you won't need any. You'll ignore the whiners and go play Olympic. Pure gold! I hope I have the privilege of playing here again!
Hard to beat
Came out to play 36 and had a wonderful experience. Cascade offers a more approachable warm up round, and has really improved course conditions. All of the staff, from pro shop, to restaurant, to marshalls, were extremely hard working and friendly. Olympic is one of the best challenges in the greater Seattle area. Awesome variety of holes, from the massive downhill par-3 12th, to the reachable par-4 18th. No better place to play 36 in the area! Incredible value
Very slow of pace
It’s a great layout, however the pace of play was incredible slow. I quit after the 13th, it took 4 hours. They have 2 courses there so they should designate one course for walking and the other for carts. And then alternate the courses. A 6 hour round isn’t fun!!
One of the best around
I played on Veteran's Day, where they did something unheard of for the veteran golfers in the community...... Free round of golf on either course! I absolutely love this track, from the faster greens that roll pure year round to the beautiful setting and amazing course lay out and conditions. Always a go to course when you want a fair mix of challenging and "easy" holes. Make the drive to Bremerton whenever you are in the area and play this gem, oh and bring the friends along too!
snail's pace
Third and last time playing the course. The first two times the pace was exceedingly slow but I liked the course so I thought I'd try it again My son gave me a gift certificate for XMAS so we went out on Sunday. We got to the sixth tee and there were two groups already there (we were the third). the marshall came around and said there were a couple of slow groups but they had started to speed up.
The round took five hours and ten minutes--unacceptable for early Sunday morning. I'm done.
Great Condition
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were true, staff was friendly, and pace of play was a little slower than I like (4 Hours and 45 minutes).
Olympic Course
Best bang for your buck in the state of Washington. Hands down.
Took too long!
Our round of golf took 5 hours 15 minutes, waiting an average of 10 mins every shot.
It's a course with great and challenging layout, most of the time well-maintained and one that my friends would travel 50 miles to play at. But the pace of paly this time round put us off.
Great conditions
Course was in great shape, greens rolled true and good pace , especially for how wet has been. Definitely will play again
the course was in great shape. Greens were awesome. Great weather. Staff were so friendly. I love the driving range on real turf! Challenging layout that rwe loved.
Perfect - Besides the waits every hole
Not sure why the pace of play is so terrible here, waited every hole in the first week of January! Its even worse in the summer.. beautiful course though, maybe they just need to space their tee times more or get a marshall out there to keep everyone moving along. Played with sister and fiance, both who have golfed 10 times combined so we weren't some crazy fast group. Not fun playing 5 hour+ rounds.
Gold Mountain Olympic Course
Great Winter course in Greater Seattle area. Much drier than most courses. Fun layout one of my favorite courses in WA
Gold in the front 9
A beautiful day on a beautiful course! Greens were in great shape, overall A for December!
